Wow, I think anything that touches R&B, Hip-Hop, or general top 40 material is mostly hated here. (Though Hip-Hop for the most part isn't too great right now, and top 40 is filled with some dumb songs)

Whats wrong with Timbaland? That guy is good at what he does and makes songs sound good for anyone for the most part.

Just so that we have the correct frame of reference here.....

Chris Cornell was a god send during the grunge movement. His sound helped shift the music scene away from derivative pop music and into something with more substance.

And now he's joining ranks with the vanguard of current derivative crud? Lame.

I don't mind Timbaland (though he should stick to collaborations), but Cornell is going against just about everything people like about him with this move.

Ahh well, it's not like he can ruin Soundgarden or Audioslave. Those will always remain awesome.

Yeah, this makes me really upset... Cornell is like a rock god... One of the last people I figured would sell out... makes me sick... a crying shame... a crying shame... WHY CORNELL WHY!?!?!?!

The demise of Chris Cornell has been greatly exagarrated - saw him at the Ventura Theater last night and it was amazing. His voice was in great shape and the band behind him was amazing. Although I haven't heard his new stuff before - it didn't sound too bad live.

This was the set list (not in order though!!)

Blow Up The Outside World
No Attention
Black Hole Sun(acoustic)
Fell On Back Days(acoustic)
Like Suicide
Getaway Car(acoustic)
Gasoline
Set It Off
Be Yourself
Doesn't Remind Me
Moth
Wooden Jesus
Reach Down
When I'm Down
Wave Goodbye
No Such Thing
You Know My Name
Scream
Ground Zero
Watch Out

Meh, Audioslave was a shadow of Soundgarden or Rage Against the Machine. It was decent old time rock and roll, but that's all it was, it never seemed really inspired or very interesting or loaded with things to say. I'm not overly surprised Chris has continued down that path.

Well the guy knows what sells anyway, and he's good at making 'music' that sells.

I'll admit, he's got talent, but he doesn't exactly push the boundaries or come up with anything new. Maybe 10 years ago it was new, but not anymore.

Though I'm not sure how you can argue his stuff isn't formulaic. And I think there is a legitimate argument against over marketed, cookie cutter music.

I shouldn't come off too hard though, I will admit he has produced at least one of my 'guilty pleasures' songs. Probably a few here that come out against him could admit that.
