I think it might be the grocery store there and the fact that it's right there at the ctrain.

We sell framed autographed sports memorabilia. Similar to the stuff in the window at Avenida Art Gallery in Market Mall. Think of a whole store of that, with jerseys, framed photos, pucks, mini helmets, footballs etc. We also sell vintage jerseys through Mitchell and Ness, and other collectables. We would be bringing in a player once or twice a month for public signings in the store. We already have a location in Niagara Falls, ON but would like to open a second in Calgary at some point.

We dont do it "in house", but we can get it done for a very reasonable price if someone was to bring in their own 8x10 or jersey. It takes about 2 weeks. We have a selection of matting colors and engraved plates to choose from as well.

Dont think I would consider Westbrook Mall. That place has been a dump for years. Isn't the C- Train going to run up that way though? I thought I heard they were knocking down Ernest Manning HS.

A disclaimer, I hate malls.
However, we studied in a class not too long ago that as far as retail outlets are concerned, Chinook Centre is the place to be.
As far as accounting is concerned retail outlets are typically analyzed at Dollars of Revenue generated per square foot.
Using that standard metric, Chinook Centre is the most successful retail mall in the country and in the top 10 in North America.
Thats why the rent is insane.

I wonder if Chinook is going to be impacted by the new mega mall Cross Irons or whatever it is called. Maybe you could look in there, I didn't read the whole thread so don't jump on me if it was already suggested.

That might not be a bad idea, but that is still several years away probably, so I guess it would depend on his timeline.
I for one am going to build a mall in the sky. It floats and only people with Jetsons cars will be able to shop there. Exclusivity baby!!

Actually, CrossIron Mills is supposed to open late next year. They've already got the structure up, and the Bass Pro Shop front is complete.
Chinook is countering by building a massive expansion of their own.

I dont think the new mega mall will impact Chinook, Southland or Market Mall as much. It will turn Sunridge into a Marlborough Mall type dungeon, with strange people lurking about. I would think Marlborough could be demolished, would be a decent location for low income housing?

If you demolish Marlborough mall, where would the crack addicts go?

I thought they were already camping out in troutman's yard?
I hear he cooks them a mean spread.

Sunridge, but they would need to move the 24 hr. Wal-Mart over there as well.

Crossiron Mills should be open by next August. It's got a lot of higher-end stores, and a lot of "firsts" in Alberta. Of course, with the high-end stores will come higher costs.
check out the website for a store listing and you can apply for retail space.
