Yep; it's been gone about 2 years IIRC.

Why on earth would anyone eat that stuff when we have Vern's

I'm afraid Vern's isn't much of a step up from Pizza Pizza. "Hey, I'll have the vegetarian. That comes with 10 lbs of 'meat' on it right? Oh and could you order me an ambulance?"

You guys haven't had pizza till you've been to Windsor. Best pizza in Canada, and numerous places all equally good!

I was a huge fan of Vern's when I lived in Saskatoon during the late 90s, they do pile on the meat but I've been ordering the Vegetarian for the past 4 years since I stopped eating meat.
The best thing about Vern's is the sauce, tastes like the blood of Christ.

I don't know what the big deal is. I tried some out east. It's just pizza. Pizza Pizza also bought out Alberta's own Pizza 73.
Pizza Pizza is a freaking Canadian Pizza Monopoly. That is enough to make me never want to eat it or give them money again. It's like the Canadian Starbucks of Pizza.

The small mom and pop operations have far better pizza than the large chains.

Pizza Pizza has been at Chinook Theatre for months now. The crust really is horrendous.

You folks obviously don't know what Pizza Pizza is. I heard there was a Pizza Pizza at this new location in Calgary and zipped right over. It's clearly a Pizza 73 serving Pizza 73 pies.
Yes, Pizza Pizza bought out Pizza 73 and yes they've renovated the store and changed the packaging to fall in line with their other product but the menus are totally different, Pizza Pizza has a light baked crust and sells slices; this "new" Pizza Pizza in the NE doesn't have slices and serves greasy deep dish pizza. The only good thing is that at least they have the real Pizza Pizza dipping sauce.
What a let down. It's nothing like Pizza Pizza.

Some of the best pizza I've had was at Patsy's in NYC.

Pizza Pizza is terrible. Can't stand "the official Sens pizza" or whatever it is here. Gross.

I've been on a pizza binge the last few weeks in the downtown area, and I gotta tell you guys there's still NOTHING that compares to Volos. The closest I've found is Spiros, and even then I wasn't overly impressed.
I feel like I'm cheating on a faithful girlfriend anytime I stray from Volos. It's only let me down once, and I've been pretty religious about ordering it once a week for the last few years. It actually makes my weekend when I order it.

Really? I drive by Volos every day and have thought about ordering it, but I'm so hopelessly hooked on Nicks that I'm scared to order from anywhere else, lest I end up with an inferior pizza.
Sounds like I better give Volos a try...
As for Pizza Pizza, I had a slice one day in downtown Toronto and I just about yakked. I don't think I've ever had a worse bite of pizza in my life. I left it, one bite taken out, on the eating counter.
I've often wondered if that was just a particularly bad pizza, or restaurant, but the way this thread has gone, it sounds like the whole chain sucks.

I've tried Nick's, and found it was kinda soggy. It was alright, but still not as good as Volos.
I wouldn't order anything bigger than a large though, the one time that I got a bad pizza was when I got an XL and the middle was sorta soggy. I usually go with 1 large or 2 mediums now. Try the Mexican or the meatlovers, 2 of my personal favs. I would also get a personal Lasagna with your pizza order. It's an extra $6 and worth every penny.

I'm officially on the Volos bandwagon. Ordered it last night and loved it. The sauce is different... But damn good.

Was drunk in downtown Toronto last night and Pizza Pizza saved me. So good to soak up the beer, whatever happened to the Pizza Pizzas in Calgary? ^^ This man knows his Pizza. That garlic dipping sauce is the bomb. Might go for another pie tonight!
