Have to agree with the hotwire.com recommendation, I used them in Boston, DC and Pittsburgh eariler this year. All very nice places for around $110 USD, the catch is you don't know what hotel you're booking until after you book. Follow the star ratings and you can't go wrong though.

Just booked 3 more nights through them for Phoenix and LA last week, got some great hotels again.

I have booked with expedia several times and have been happy with one exception. I booked a flight to Chicago and there are 2 airports in Chicago O'Hare and Midway. Anyways I land at O'hare and when I go to leave a few days later it turns out that Expedia had my return flight booked on a plane departing from Midway. Thankfully it was early and traffic was still light and I made it time, but it kind of drove me crazy that expedia wouldn't have some sort of additional alert that I was departing from a different airport.
