I like the shuffle to change on the Nano. I like the new nano, but the nike+ integration has me once again thinking about the Touch.

I returned my first one because I didn't like the coverflow only method in landscape mode...if I wanted to change the song in landscape mode, and while in shuffle mode, I had to put the touch upright..so having the touch in landscape mode in the car, was useless.

Was a bit of a let down, all in all, but I'm pretty stoked about iTunes 8, and iPhone 2.1 firmware.

Itunes 8 sounds and looks pretty solid, and they'll sell a lot more touches at the lower price. The built in Nike+ is handy as well. My wife uses it and I'm shocked at how much she enjoys it.

how come?

So far I haven't investigated it too much, but it seems very basic and general. Although I am hoping it will get alot better in the next few weeks as more people use it

I was hoping they'd announce the annual subscription thing

And a firmware update that actually makes the expensive phone I bought usable as it should be is a BARE MINIMUM.

Cmon Apple, you have this huge reputation, how about coming close to living up to it.

I just love that it recognizes the type of music I want to listen to based off one song. Sometimes it's off...But overall great addition.

The new way of seeing your music in the library is neat too.

I'm lovin the HD TV shows.

Downloaded season 1 of House in HD... frickin brilliant! It cost me the same as if I went to Future Shop and bought season 1 on standard def DVDs. Looks (and sounds) hella nice.

They even have a Season Pass you can buy for new seasons. So, when season 5 starts next week, I buy a season pass for it... and then I get the new shows automatically, just like I would if it was a podcast subscription... except all in HD!

Do you have a US iTunes account or something?

My die-hard Apple fanatic office mate was extremely disappointed. He even agreed with me that the hype was totally unnecessary. Fellated ego..

I think it's a good idea that has not been executed properly. There is no way that when i'm playing a Tool song that i should have anything Britney Spears related recommended to me.

It will get better over time. The more it gets used, the more it will learn.

Where do you load it up with money? I didn't link my US acct with a CC and read gift cards bought in Canada have to be used at the Canadian iTunes store.

Buy the US cards off eBay. They usually just email you the code right after the auction closes. You can use your Canadian CC, through PayPal, to pay for the auction.

Just make sure the auction specifically states "US" gift card, and make sure they say that they'll email the code. I had one guy who wanted to mail me the card, I had to hound him until he finally gave in and just emailed me the code.

Anyway, once you get the code, go to iTunes, log into your US account, click Redeem, enter the code, and away you go.

My wife really enjoys it. Basically you just buy the shoe and the transmitter. Technically I don't see why you couldn't just take an existing shoe and jimmy yourself up some sort of pocket (the nike+ shoes are only really different in that they have a pocket to hold the transmitter.) The transmitter will come with a receiver that fits into the ipod ... this receiver will not be necessary for the nano/touch/phone (old stubby nano only).

From there the process is really easy and kinda cool. After you're done your workout you send the info to itunes and it records everything. It'll tell you how far you went, how long you went for and how fast you travelled. You can view these stats on a per-run basis or as an overall.

there's other things that were pretty interesting. You could join "groups" if you wanted. If you have friends using it you can set up little competitions. For instance, you can set up a competition for the month of September. You can periodically check in and you'll see how far your friends have run and it will graph you all so you can keep up with their progress. If you don't have anybody to run with you can join other groups. My wife's friends didn't use it, so she joined the "flame fans vs. canuck fans" group. Pick a side and run for team glory!

I thought it was interesting how while running and listening to your tunes it'll chime in with important notes such as "you've half way to your goal today" or "Congratulations, you've just had your longest run yet". That last one was cool because it was delivered by Lance Armstrong lol.

The only complaint I heard was that there's no way to differentiate between walking and running, so if you want include the walks you go on in addition to the runs, it'll affect your average speed stat. It's tough to see if you're getting faster or slower without that stat being accurate.

Edit: and yes HotHotHeat is correct in that the touches dropped by $100 each.
