Dion's front step drinking Orange Crush and eating his homemade chili. Although at the moment anything's better than sitting around waiting to see what Ike is going to do

Yeah, its located in a pretty remote part of town if say you live in SE Calgary etc. It does have touchy hours as it is open for lunch then closes until 5 for supper. I also don't believe it is open Sunday (it may be not open Monday) cant remember. Yeah I highly recommend trying it out but most definitely phone first for a reservation as they are insanely busy most of the time. (Right in the middle of an industrial park).

It is not that I don't like that kind of food. They are all egg based, which would be ok, except they are all over done, dry egg pancakes, not my cup of tea.

[quote=Kipper is King;1423334]Here's my top 10:
1.Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus- My fave overall place to eat breakfast. It has great variety, and the quality is consistently good. The staff is friendly, and the coffee is great too (It comes with a gingerbread cookie! Nice touch)!
That is really the only thing I enjoy there and if I have to go, I do buy a couple of bags of those cookies.

Il Sogno has great Italian food in Bridgeland, but watch out for the chef's special, you may have to mortgage your house.
I just tried a place called Alloy I had never heard of a couple of weeks ago. It's about two blocks east of Macleod on either 39th or 42nd Ave (I don't remember which because I wasn't driving that day). The atmosphere is kind of cool, it's like a 50's living room. The food was quite good as well.

I've never been to Alloy, but it is my half-brother's best friend's place. When he opened it i laughed at the name just cuz its a fusion restaurant called alloy. makes sense tho..

Pfannnntastic pannencok hause is amazing for quality and price. Getting ham, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese in one is one of your priciest options and it is worth it by far. The coffee is delcious (with the cookie of course) and I have never left unsatisfied or not stuffed to the max. $16 nice tip included is the worst case ontario, and you usually end up taking a quarter of it home with you.

Any pannakoek I have ever had was like that. But I'm guessing you prefer more traditional pancakes... 1/2" thick and piled 2" high.
I don't eat pancakes generally, but I actually prefer the thinner style of pancake. But... what I order is either the potatoe and leek or the egg and bacon one, neither of which is really a pancake.

Been out of Calgary going on 4 years now and Antonio's Garlic Clove keeps sticking out in my mind as one of those places I have to go back to.
If you love garlic then I'd recommend it.
The poor fella sitting next to me on the plane the next day probably wouldn't.

I have to step in and prevent a tragedy here regarding the Pizza at Sandros. Its so bad its become a running joke in our family. Some of us couldn't wait to try it and ordered a couple of pies. I love Pizza...but seriously I could hardly choke that stuff down....we've never had it again and would recommend that course to anyone else!
I do love the Pfanntastic Pannekoekhaus! Awesome food and delicious.
The food at La Dolce Vita and also at La Piccolo da Napoli (in Avenida for those in the deeper south) is excellent. I've eaten a fair amount at the restaurants in Bridgeland (La Brezza, La Dolce, Il Sogno and Ville Firenze) and for my money I would go with La Dolce for sure!
I've eaten at Capo and while the food wasn't terrible I would say it wasn't really worth the price tag either...#2 in the country or not!

Good suggestions CP! Keep 'em coming! Some of these places, I've never even heard of.
And I'll bet you pretty soon, searching for "Pfanntastic Pannekoek Haus" on Google will probably lead people to this thread.

Anyone know of a good Pho place? I used to always go to that place beside the 7 Eleven on 17th Ave. It was either called Phong Vi or Pho Kim, but then they shut down. Since then, I've not found a place comparable to it.

what area of town?
the best pho places are in the NE or SE
my favorites for pho are:
pho xuan (across from t&t supermarket on 36th street)
pho binh minh (17 ave SE by the pizza hut)
pho thanh (64th ave NW by the canadian tire)
pho dau bo (17th ave SE in Little Saigon)
for convenience sake, i usually go to pho so 1 on centre street
i used to frequent pho kim weekly, until we found a fly in our dish
i like pho bagolac for their pho sate, but that's all i really get from there..
as far as pho goes, the best places are the dingy looking places

Palomino's for the meat lovers.
Scotsman's Well for Pizza....Saskatchewan style pizza....2 slices and your stuffed.
Noon (on Edmonton trail across from Diner deluxe) for brunch....they make amazing stuffed panini's.
Salt and Pepper (Bowness) Mexican....better than the South Location.
Nicastro's ...pretty much everything....homemade soups.

No, I just dont like dry overcooked food of any kind. And just because you get a lot of that for a good price does not make it go down any better for me either.

It's a toss up between Teatro, Alloy and Pulcinella
Best food/Restaurant is in Canmore at a place called Crazy Weed. The food is out of this world!

Any time you go to a restaurant with a view you're paying for the view. I've eaten at the Calgary Tower a few times and it's always disappointing. Not worth the price you pay for the meal.
