Good strategy; as I know not everybody knows their politics. Make sure people know how to vote for your party. If you are running for office, you don't care how smart your supporters are; just that they are behind you.

That is not from your Conservative MP, that is your tax dollars at work and is a pamphlet from the Country of Canada. Those are 10 percenters and the Tories lavishly use your tax dollars to get their message out.

What government doesn't?
I've they don't spend gobs of money telling us what they've spent gobs of money on, we might get the idea we're better off with the money in our pocket.

Fair enough, it is just that the Tories do it so much more eloquently and with such complete hypocrisy compared with the Grits. This year the 10 percenter budget has increase 61% from the last year under Martin. The more Tory MP's, the greater the abuse of government privilege.

I guess they figured out cash filled envelopes and buying fountains in your riding just don't have the optics they used to.

Well you are right there, might as well piss it away with lavish bio-fuel subsidies for farmers in your riding....less transparent that way

That would be infinitely more federal government-like. Why mess around with this 10 percenter stuff. Bring out the pork baby.

Unfortunately, as much as this ad reinforces my dislike for Harper and the tories in general, the Liberals have no hope of achieving anything if they continue with Dion the moron as their leader.

Wow..the country is in shambles. A little over dramatic maybe?

Yeah, instead of voting for who you like, just leave the country. Spoken like a true Conservative.

Yes, I think you answered your own statement.
Very interesting strategy...with the US election upcoming where people directly vote for the President, makes sense to associate this election and campaign in that same manner.
Especially when you're running against someone like Dion, someone who's got less charisma and personability then the already sometimes akward Harper.

Ha, no kiddin'.
They also sent me a flyer recently with a guy sitting on a couch with a beer in his hand and the word "jail?" in big letters next to his head. That was the whole image on the front, nothing else.
I thought it was an ad for prohibition.
Turns out it was something about criminals serving their sentence in house arrest.

I can't believe no one has mentioned it yet?
At the 6 second mark of the video the worker by his pick-up truck has no tools! He has this huge tool belt on but it is COMPLETELY empty?
What, they couldn't find the guy even a single hammer to go along with his scripted fake comments??
IF you have real people then they look real, if you have fake people make sure they are in a higher end production. This is the worst of both worlds, fake people looking fake....

I'm just excited because my local MP is retiring. He was Brutal. Only ever spoke about one issue, never did anything in the House of Commons, and even the junk mail he sends annually still only talks about how bad the Liberals are, and nothing about what he is doing. Good riddance on him leaving.
I think Harper has been very good on some issues, but very bad on others.
It's like trying to decide between someone who gives you $100 every time they kick you in the gonads, or the other one who only gives you a twenty then weakly punches you in the gut.

I'd rather see commercials like this than the smear garbage and fear mongering like in the US.
Party politics aside, this was at least a positive themed commercial.

Really, I don't see the point of this election. Nationally the Liberals are at 35% popularity and the Cons 33%
Realistically, the most that Harper could win is another minority government of about equal strength as he has now. Worst case scenario is the NDP and Liberals gain strength because of Obama mania and the Conservatives lose their edge and Dion gets to be Prime Minister.
Plus Harper has to break his own law in order to get an election. It really just doesn't make any sense.

All the ads in the world would never change how I'll be voting, which is, not for Rob Anders.
That being said, that's a smarmy commercial. Would still prefer a Harper government over a Dion government. Layton has no chance, never will, the perennial third party.

Aye, but if said 3rd party were to hold the balance of power with the Liberals.... I think Layton would hold more power than Dion.
I've voted NDP the last two federal elections and my candidate was elected both times. Now that I have moved to a more conservative (big and small C) riding, I'll have to see how things shape up... if there is no chance at all, I'll likely vote Green.

I trust you've emailed Barf Turner and told him how disgusted you are that he sends everyone in his riding a 10%er by slightly changing the document (you are only allowed to send any one document to 10% of your riding, so Barf makes 10 slightly different ones and sends them to everyone)? He even brags about it on his blog....
All parties use 10%ers. There are more conservative MPs, so they have more 10%ers. The corruption of the Liberal party is still unmatched in the free world - the Gun Registry, Shawinigate, Sponsorship... just to name a few.

Ya I was pretty much going to same the same thing. You'd have to have a short memory to think that using public money to your advantage is something that is only mastered by the PC's requires a very short memory.

Aye. But they were voted in on a promise to clean up government, to stop these kind of shenanigans, to restore faith in our public institutions. Instead, they've been the same old same old....
