Sounds similar to the CP SW Slopitch camping weekend. 4x4 wandered off drunk that time too, and fell in the river. We had a lengthy debate over whether to look for him.

No sooner did I type it that I figured someone would point this out. Keep in mind the presence of snow and the need to send a message to whoever might stumble upon the campsite (me).

Did you go back for them?

Great story! One of the things I miss most about Alberta is the great outdoors and all the adventures that come with it!

This is why we drive 4x4s. We got our trucks and bushwhacked it back down to the river and loaded all the gear up. No raft, beer can or body was left behind.

Lol... That's dirt, I swear...
But you've reminded me of one other detail that I forgot to add to the original story. In the morning when I was walking back to the other camp, I had to wade through the river - knee deep - to get to the bank. Then I had to hike for 5-10 minutes to get within eyeshot of the other camp. While I was standing there, scanning the area for signs of them, I had to take a leak. So I whipped out the willy and was relieving myself when I noticed the steam coming off the pee. Survival mode kicked in and I started pissing on my feet to warm them up, if only for a while. Lol. I don't care how gross that sounds, it restored feeling in my toes for a few minutes.

Im sure buddy that picked you up was very impressed by your state of disarray as well as the pungent aroma of gin and piss-shoes.

it takes a lot of courage to go on record, on the internet, and tell a story about yourself like that. Personally I would have logged in under Locke's account

Beer is actually pretty good for keeping you warm at night, especially after you go to brush your teeth and the water is freezing.
Anyways, great story indeed. Like the pissing on the feet lol, never done that. Did a little camping and hiking/climbing this long weekend, man it was frickin freezing. My sunblock frooze so I ended up getting sunburn, but thats about it.
