Sorry I have no idea what you are talking about... ahem Firefly.
Coors is not good for slo-pitch, it's a light beer ffs! Whereas the Pil always satisfies.

k fine if its a bit of fun then what ever as long as it moves on... My mental image was more about getting my arse reamed out by "Mr. Authority on all things beer" Every time I make a beverage choice he doesn't think is up to some standard... it would get old and un funny at some point... so we are talking two different degrees. Giving me a hard time for a minute and then moving the conversation on is one thing, constantly hearing someone lecture me about how I'm an idiot for making a personal choice is another.

well yes, then you're just dealing with a pretentious ######. I am definitely in the light-hearted camp of making fun....although if the negative action persists on a long-term basis, so will the mocking.

I did lite beer training all last Winter, for a couple of reasons.
1. calories, and yes they do seem to have more effect when you get older.
2. I just drink so damn much beer, I thought it was a good idea.
I golf probably 3 or 4 times a week, and consume 3 - 7 beers every game, that's just weekdays. Watching hockey is good for a couple of beers a night, bbq'ing, cutting the lawn, weekend, etc. etc. I drink a lot of beer.
So for calories, and not getting impaired I drink lite now. I still drink regular at special occasions, but for a daily beveredge, it's lite.

To some, consuming light beer is an OUT from the guilt of impaired driving. My wife would would say "get a six pack of Corona or Coors Light, because you have to drive" in hindsight......I don't know....

I'd rather drink one good Guiness, than 3 Bud Lights. Quality over quantity wins every time.

Guinness Draught: 12 oz.= 125 Cal, 4.2% alcohol by volume
Bud Light: 12 oz.= 110 Cal, 4.2% alcohol by volume
I think anyone can find some way to burn off those extra 15 calories...

Yep, quite a few misconceptions about Guinness. People think it's a heavy beer with a high alcohol content. Wrong-o!

Well according to http://www.realbeer.com/edu/health/calories.php
Bud Light is 95 Cal (and 6.6 carbs)
Guiness Draught is 125 Cal (and 10 carbs)
So that is 30 calories. Multiply that by 6 = 180 calories, 3 days per week = 540. So that is basically a Big Mac per week in the difference in beer.
Now I should explain myself more:
1. Topic creator can tone down his ultra-macho-hiding-who-knows-what feelings a bit. It is only light beer (granted a one sentence comment is warranted). Now if your buddy was drinking rasberry beer, that definitely deserves a ribbing.
2. If I am going to sit on a dock/by pool/on beach all day and drink through the day, there is no chance in hell I am having a Guinness. As the other poster said, nice light beer and summer go well together.
3. Now I want a beer.

I'm not a big fan, I know a lot of Guinness drinkers that drink it thinking they are doing something special because it's so stout. I just snicker to myself.

^ I love Guiness and pretty much all the dark beers. I knew that the alcohol content was lower, but don't really care about that. I guess you guys can enjoy your martinis and red wine!

Hah yeah, who knew!
I guess my favourite beers - Lasko, Zyweic, Red Stripe - are all light beers.

I only drink the light beers if I'm REALLY plastered. At that point, it all tastes the same anyways, and I don't feel bad about pouring out the bottom 1/4 when it gets warm. Warm light beer is like drinking flat keg beer....I'd rather eat my own vomit.
Right now it's Lucky lager at home or at the rink, and Pilsner on tap at the bar. Failing that I go Strongbow, but that stuff turns me into a raving, slobbering lunatic right quick.

For the record, I drink light beer if I'm planning on an all day excursion, especially if it's going ot be out in the sun.
With dinner, or a few drinks on the weekend, I'll go with the leaded.
I've got no problems with Guinness, and I enjoy quite a few stouts and dark beers. I just know a few people that think they are "manning up" by drinking Guinness and it's simply not true.

Light beer is for old men huh?
Beer is beer.
I normally drink Moosehead Light or Coors Light, but I will drink pretty much any type of beer other than swill like Pilsner or Bud.
And, as has been mentioned, those of us who like to stay fit and trim prefer light beer because of the lower amount of carbs and calories.
I lost some 75 pounds drinking light beer, eating right and exercising...'nuff said.
