Nice article about what Olympians, including Michael Phelps, eat to perform at their best.
Michael Phelps consumes 10,000 calories a day.

From that same Phelps article:
"After I retired, I immediately hit puberty and it was tough." - Shannon Miller, seven-time Olympic medal gymnast.
Retired before the age of puberty? Wow. That's crazy.

I thought about playing Fusion for summer rec because its outside at least, but I was just too busy as I play softball too.
A CP beer league team is an interesting idea though. You can play goal right?

That is the league I play in, exact same division. What team are you on?
Fusion does kind of suck but it was fun when I played last year.

The Calgary Co-Ed? I play on Mutiple Scorgasm.
Great group of people, I really enjoy playing on that team and that league.

On the nutrition side you might be better off going to see a nutritionist so he/she can set you up with a proper diet that would best suit your needs.
Cardio is an excellent way of developing your endurance. When you head down to SJS be sure to join a gym and do some cardio daily.

I'm too cheap to pay for a nutrionalist
I got some pretty good advice here, I don't think I'll follow a crazy Mike Phelps diet, just looking to eat a little better to step up my game a bit. I think I'm a little too lazy to do daily cardio. I don't even like walking to school.

Prob not what you are looking for as I am the crowd that needs to lose a few.
For me, If found that when I increased my calorie intake to 3500 from 2000-2500 and kept with the same exercise routine, that is when I actually found I started to lose weight.
I have an office job that basically has me infront of a computer all day but I am kind of a gym rat so I figure I get enough exercise, I couldnt believe that eating more meant losing more weight. You keep hearing it but it was still strange.
Keeping in mind of course the calories arent from processed foods etc, mostly egg whites, protien etc.

I used to think the same way. You can waste years experimenting or going by what people tell you on the internet or in magazines. Just spend some money and do it the right way from the start. You won't regret it.

How much would going to a nutritionist cost? And what do they do? Do they lay out a diet plan only or do they give you a full workup of diet and exercise that you should be doing daily? Cause that's something I would want done. I lack the knowledge to actually put together a plan like that, so having a professional lay everything out, like meal plans and specific exercise, would be great.

My nutrition was designed by my personal trainer. I also can design my own nutrition plan using a website provided by my trainer using his guidelines. Now I know most people won't want to pay for a personal trainer. As for just consulting with a nutritionalist, try looking in the yellow pages. My benifits include meeting with a nutritionalist, so some of you could also have the same benifit available through your employer.

My wife went to the spa lady nutritonalist, who used the True Star program and it was $700 for 4 months (16 meetings) to set up meal plans for both my wife and I.
I have lost 40 pounds since the first of may, without doing any notable excercise, simply by learning what my body should be getting. For the first could weeks or so I had to weigh everything and had to learn these new recipies, but after that I got used to what was a normal amount of food and I never even think about it anymore.
The best part about it was it is all normal food, you can pick your meal plans from vast lists online that meet your meal requirements. If I go to Macdonalds, there are 2 meals I can have to stay within my plan, 4 or 5 if i go to Wendys.
I have been on diets in my life, and never has one seemed like it wasn't a diet. Sure I can't go get my Venti Double Chocolaty Chip Frap from StarBucks, but that is pretty much a given.

I played Fusion as well, also play for CWSA, but I'm a keeper and therefore don't really get the required cardio, I tend to have to do a 20 min. run before and then a 5km run afterwards so I feel like I've actually exercised.

Search some of the old threads. I've given out tons of tips on here, most that I couldn't even remember saying.
But its sound advice.
The only thing I will say though is, find out what your BMR is, and stay away from carbs with a high GI index. Research both, and memorize everything about it.
