I feel for the guy who finished 4th. You lose the bronze medal bout and then 5 minutes later watch the guy that beat you throw the medal onto the ground. If I was the IOC I would give the 4th place guy the bronze.

Why? He didn't win it.
Just because the guy in 3rd thought he should have done better doesn't mean that the guy in 4th should be bumped up.

Cap: I partially agree with you that we should do away with sports that need judges, but only when it comes to "Artistic" type judging. Things like rythmic gymnastics and ice dancing.
But wrestling I don't think counts in that sense, because there are pretty clearly laid out scenarios that are scored. It should be pretty easy to get a concensus on most of those. Hell if they have to resort to video to properly score it, that'd be just fine.
Girly: I'm gonna say that the guy in 4th probably wouldn't enjoy his medal very much and if he did he'd be a big ###### in my mind as wel. Seriously, who would want to get a medal because the guy who beat you is a total ###### bag?

Okay, I'm really not sure if you're being sarcastic or not.
Normally I'd assume you were, but making the remark about the WWE sort of takes the hilarity out of it if you were, so either it isn't sarcastic or it isn't funny.
Edit: Okay now that I've reread your post a few times, I'm certain that you're serious and totally missed the sarcasm of the first post.
BTW three counts don't exist in amateur wrestling.
Not a big wrestling-fan, but this is what I have gathered about the incident... In the semi, he was fouled for trying to escape the ring, when only his hand was out, something that happens all the time, but no one ever gets called for... After that, he lost that game. He tried to give an official protest, but the officials wouldnt allow him.
Apperantly, something simular happened in the final at the olympics in Athens, where he took the silver medal...
His protest was more of a way to show that they have got to change the rules in wrestling. Right or wrong, he got more publicity, and therebuy highlighted a problem, then he would have got if he took the gold...
Actually, I don't blame him - a solid three-count pin and no call? Terrible officiating. And a manager distracting the ref? Sounds like WWE. Shedding blood, sweat and tears to get to that point and have it ruined by poor officiating is a kick in the nuts. I hope he contests the decision.
Reminds me of the Sale / Pelletier debacle in 2002.
Ya, he should have gone George the animal Steele on the turnbuckle with rage.

Compromise. They stripped the bronze medal from the Swede but won't give it to the loser of the bronze-medal match cause... he lost!
Anyone had the video of this? Sound funny. Good for the guy not being a politician and just taking it lying down.
Yes, it's always good to see poor sportsmanship.

Don't get me wrong, I hate to see trashy sportsmanship anytime (especially shat talking). But at the same time, it's a judged sport and this stuff happens. Some people are politically correct all the time and it goes nowhere. This guy put his money where his mouth was, shook the Gold medal winner's hand, walked off and left his medal there. Not bad sportsmanship, but it brought attention to the issue of arguable calls. I thought it was a good thing he did.
