wow seriously, this is making front page headlines from CNN.
Are you serious?
Didn't lipsyncing originated from western countries? What is so different than Britney or Madonna or Ashley Simpson lipsyncing on stage? Or have their records "tune" to make them sound amazing on records because they sing bad in real life but look good on stage?? How is this different than this case?
I think some of you are missing the point.
Yes there are auditions everywhere and girls get rejected for singing, dancing, modelling on a daily basis.
But have you ever seen a case where a girl that was good enough to sing but not good enough to perform and they still used her voice for someone else to use in order to deceive?
Voice actors and stuntmen always get credit for their trade.

I do not really see a big deal of this. The media really needs to give China a break. It was a great show. No doubt. It was almost perfect. But then, what is wrong with lip-synching? Every one around the world does it. Everyone could see she was lip-synching. Don't tell me other countries don't use lip-synching in their shows. This is just show business. Who doesn't want their shows to be perfect?
As for the fireworks. I have no doubt it would have been spectular even without the digital enhancement. They were one of the most amazing fireworks display I have ever seen. The digital stuff is just to enhance the overall effect for the show. But afterall, this is a tv show boardcast. I really do not see what is wrong with it. You get to see a great show produced for billions of people world wide, where the entire world gets together. That is what the ceremony is about. The ceremony should not be about China being "fake". Were the thousands of people performing in the show in unity fake? Were all the amazing props made for the show fake? They all have practiced and practiced for a long time to put on a spectular show.
I agree. We should give every totalitarian regime a break when they do a song and dance for us and blind us with digital fireworks and cute little girls. We gave a break nazi Germany, we gave a break communist Moscow in 1980 so hell yeah we should give the Chinese a break too! We should be glued to the TV again marvelling this great show in the same way as we were taken away by Leni Riefenstahl's groundbreaking documentary about the 1936 Berlin olympics.

Wow, have you been to China? Are you stuck in the 60s-70s? or still have flashbacks of the tiananmen square back in the 80s? You do know that China is not like what it used to be anymore? We are at the 21st century. It is kind of naive to still think in the past, and compare the modern china to nazi Germany and the USSR regime of the past. The country is opening up, with elements of capitalism slowly advancing in every part of the country. Everywhere in china is a display of technological advancement (see Shanghai and Beijing and Hong Kong). The olympics is an opprtunity for a country trying to open up to the west, for acceptance. We should at least give them a chance. They have done nothing wrong at these games yet. It is typical stereotype that is being protrayed in the media, and stealing the spotlights from the games. China may not have the best track records in terms of being a country, but it is slowly moving being a major player at the world stage with its advancement. We need to accept that the country is no longer the way it is used to be. Every other countries has its flaws, China is no different. No country is perfect. At least give the chinese a chance before we let our stereotypical thoughts take over.

No, this has never happened in North America. Not even once.
What's the difference between this and Britney Spears having her voice altered dramatically on the record and then lip-syncing on stage in order to deceive (as you put it)? It's still someone getting credit for something they didn't actually do themselves. The record company could just as easily do the same thing as China and have someone else sing, but they choose to go the technological route.
I agree, a huge fuss over nothing. People are just taking aim at China for everything right now. Some of justifiable, but much of it, like this stuff, who cares. Just grasping at straws.

As long as the show is good, who care's how they pull it off. People need to stop turning everything about the olympics into some sort of political argument.

You put it in a polite way.
I was going to say that only white people like Ginger Beef

Not sure what the big deal is on this, the fireworks were obviously CGI, at this point CGI technology is not at a point where its undetectable in movies or TV. No one made the claim that they were real. That being said, the OC had the worst torchlight ceremony ever, very boring and dragged out. Not impressive at all as its supposed to be the climax of the show.

C+C Music Factory??
Quote:
Controversy erupted when it was found out that vocalist Zelma Davis appeared instead of vocalist Martha Wash in the video for the groups first single, "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)." Davis, the vocalist (aside from rapper Freedom Williams) on the next three singles, lip-synced to Wash's vocals in that video. Wash later sued the group and appeared on the Joan Rivers show unannounced immediately after the Milli Vanilli lip synch 'act' expose' erupted'.

Good lord, you can't be serious. China has a long list of problems and people have legitimate grievances. Lip-synching and digital fireworks are not among them.
Does it reflect badly on the entire United States if Jessica Simpson lip-synchs at the Super Bowl?
Talk about a non-issue. It's a show for crying out loud. Is everyone also pissed that that guy who lit the torch was actually supported by ropes, and wasn't really floating in the air?
