Wow, am I the only person who doesn't think Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell suck? I am not saying they make extremely funny movies, but I didn't think they sucked. Will Ferrell hasn't made a extremely funny movie yet (IMO), most of the he makes are crap IMO, but I love his stuff from SNL so I stand by and wait for the day he releases something decent.
Still on the other hand made Meet The Parents, which I thought was awesome, but that is his only movie I really enjoyed.
I like the Da Vinci Code as well (one of the few), so maybe there is something wrong with me? I have seen the preview for Tropic Thunder, and I can't wait to see it. I leave for Europe on Thursday and it comes out Wednesday, so I better go in the morning tomorrow and catch an early screening, I went to Pineapple Express on opening night at 10pm and it was already filled (30 minutes prior) with 18-22 yr old kids who all dress with their expensive clothing, same haircuts, looking like complete ######bags.

I can agree that it's a derogatory term, but standing up and making a case about it will only promote the movie this group is trying to punish. This same sort of thing happened a few years ago with that Johnny Knoxville movie about the special olympics didn't it?
It's kind of an odd term as it is a proper scientific word that's been used with such a negative connotation for so long that it's now no longer acceptable. It threw me for a loop the first time I came upon it in a scientific journal.

No, you're not alone. I actually like Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller and the Da Vinci Code. Perhaps my standards are scraping the bottom of the barrel ... i don't know. Also to agree with you, I went to see Step Brothers the other night and the number of popped collars made me gag a little.

Yeah! How can you not love Ben Stiller? He could have made the worst movies in the world, but Zoolander redeems him for all his mistakes. Such a good movie!

I think he was being sarcastic hard to tell though.
I don't watch Stiller/Ferrel movies because I want to see artistic mind blowing movies, they are cheap laughs.

Ahhhh, it makes more sense now.
I didn't mind Anchorman but it was years after its release that I saw it.
Meet the parents is actually the only movie I have never been able to watch the entire way through because I was soooo frustrated I had to turn it off. And I watch some terrible movies.

I don't know about that. I went to a premiere of this movie and it was actually put on by Special Olympics Canada. They had a bunch of people say things before and after the movie and most felt the over all message was genuine. Most found it quite funny but did complain about the crappy pappy ending!

Actually I wasn't haha. I just really love that movie. Of course it's stupid mindless humour. But I still enjoy them from time to time.

I agree and personally find it an offensive word. I'd put it up there with racial, cultural derogatory terms. Anyone with respect and common sense shouldn't be using these words.
The issue is if picketing movie theaters is going to help their cause or not. The downside could be a film getting unpaid publicity about their film. The upside you spread the word that this is not a proper term for people with developmental disabilities.

They prefer to be called 'Ladies of the Night,' show some respect. Its a tough job, but they pay their taxes!!
Some people gots to chill. Either way, if they're that offended by it, picket lines and boycotts probably arent the best way to get their message across.

Perhaps I didn't use the best example. The movie confused a lot of groups. The special olympics (like you mentioned) were involved and the producers did go to great lengths to make sure the movie didn't actually use the disabled as humor props. Outrage did however come from many that based their opinions off of the trailer though. My point is that outrage routinely backfires.

Actually it really is. Jon Voight's line: "Dammit Derek, I'm a coal miner not a professional movie and television actor" is part of what seals it as being classic. It's so ridiculously ######ed (had to say that in this thread) that it's hilarious.

I just thought this was hilarious, if my name was Timmy, I'd want this in my office:
