I phoned back to confirm the info and the person read everything off as it was told to me without even me mentioning the details. So I am pretty confident it was actually done. We will see....I am just hoping this isn't a dream!

Yeah, it's just that I just got my credits that were promised to me in March for buying my 9242.

That's why I keep a log on my computer of every conversation, every employee ID, date, time, etc.

Hopefully with the new owners of Bell TV, they'll quit with their lying and then lie about their lies. Like I've said before they're worse then the Ferangi who at least try to keep their stories straight.

I just cancelled my movie channels, just because and I was ready for the usual fight to get my bill credited but low and behold, I was credited on my first bill. Maybe it was because I ended up swearing at the last guy from India I talked to [and that was probably the first time I've sworn in 5 years] but maybe things are changing.

I saw on another forum some links to an Ubuntu forum; apparently Ubuntu can read the drive. The links have since been removed, but I think I saved them at home.

What kept me from grabbing a spare PC and loading up Ubuntu was that even though the files could be read; they were in some incompatable format. So give it a few weeks until there is some sort of conversion program.

My guess is that's what happened with my Archos. Some tech said "hey, if we let these transfer to this unit, they will go as AVIs, and what's to stop somebody from uploading them from the Archos to their home PC." At which point his fellow techs jabbed him in the ribs and told him to shut his pie hole.

Has anyone here had trouble with a disconnect problem with the external hard drive? I was ready to go buy one when I read the discussion on Digital Home.ca here
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/show...t=90072&page=9
which seems to say that the LaCie drive that is recommended and sold by Bell is not working. Should I be holding off purchasing one?
Thanks

It works fine for me. You just have to make sure you have the right firmware on your recevier.

Just an FYI to anyone considering purchasing an external hard drive for their Bell 9242 receiver. Please read this forum first
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/show...t=90072&page=9
Even after reading it I decided to buy one and sure enough I am having the same disconnect problems- making it useless. The only option for me now is to send my receiver back to Bell (and lose all my recordings) to have them replace my new purchased PVR with a refurbished one. This is BS and I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. HOOT, did you just luck out? Any other CPers have a positive experience?
