Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'll check them out. The Blackfoot wasn't all that bad price-wise, as I can get a discount using my CAA/AMA card, so it's $132 a night for a standard room. Fotze's right though; I really don't think I could handle that Hell's Kitchen type wussy food, so probably need someplace close to a regular resteraunt. Being close to the red mile could be a plus, although not likely to see any preseason boobies on the street When I saw the location of the Blackfoot I thought I would probably end up driving down, since it's close to the major streets, which I usually don't get lost on. At least I have some time still to figure things out.

well, maybe not blow...that's a little too upscale for the Cecil. Would you settle for hookers and glue?

I dunno.....I was checking out the 'perks' you can order when booking a room at the Blackfoot.... They have listed:
- Massage at the spa (true)
- In-room massage 1 HR
- In-room massage 1-1/2 HR
I'm taking it that the spa massage is a regular massage, but since it doesn't say (true) behind the other ones, I'm thinking maybe there's some sort of happy ending option

As for the Blackfoot, unless you have a car, don't stay there. You'll be stuck there.

This is the one that I was thinking of. It is about 5 blocks from the C-Train so that will help getting to the game. Also quite a few teams stay there when they come to town. That is where I saw big Bert the first time.

Alright, just so you know....PLEASE don't book at the Cecil if you were considering it. It's probably cheaper than the Blackfoot Inn, but it's not worth the hospital or funeral bills you and/or your family would have to incur.

No liquor store as Beer Land has closed and the building sits vacant.

I'm sure it is still a very popular alcoholic venue.

I used to drive by it all the time on my way to the Dome. Sometimes stopped watching all the activity while I waited in traffic. With all the constuction my parking and route have changed. I always wondered who would buy pizza or liquer from there? You got to wade through a gang of hobo's just to get to the door.

I wonder what hobo pizza tastes like - it's probably made of the end trails found behind Bookers, dead pigeons killed on 4th avenue, and whatever fun stuff they can find under the Edmonton Trail bridge.
Very exotic! I would think you'd have to be cranked on alcohol to shove that down your throat...

I have stayed at the Delta Bow Valley a few times. Its a two block walk to the C Train station. Then it's just one train stop over to Stampede park. Sign up for their newsletter and watch for the deals.

OK, checked it out; I won't be staying at the sheraton in Eau Claire. I have a decent budget, but not $571 a night
