Can you imagine being a police officer making a traffic stop on a car with tinted front windows? I think that it would be more nerve wracking due to the fact that you couldn't see whether or not someone has a gun trained on you as you knock on the window.
For those people who whine about "but you can still see into the car even though my windows are tinted" I have ZERO sympathy for them when they get ticketed or forced to remove their tint.
They have to draw a line somewhere when it comes to tint and it has been drawn at no tint for drivers and front passenger windows.
Suck it up, rock stars.

I wouldn't whine about getting a ticket, but it is legal in many other places, so obviously it's not that big of a deal for people in much more dangerous jurisdictions than Calgary (ie. California).
If you can have your front windows tinted in Compton, I don't think it's that big of a deal in Calgary.
That said, if I get pulled over at night I flip on the dome light so that it is very easy for the police officer to see inside. If it's summer I'll throw the drivers window down too. I understand it must be a little nerve wracking at times making traffic stops, so I do what I can to make it easy on the cop. If he gives me a ticket for tint (never happened) I'll pay it for sure. If he makes me remove it, I'll be a little ticked but still know it's my own problem.
