If you open the link at the top of this thread, there's a link to their locations at the top of the page (click where it says "Locations").

Unless you are a pro hockey player, do you really need a composite stick?

Yes. For me anyways. I started using Easton Stealths a couple of years ago, and have now moved onto the reebok o-stick (both go for $250 - $300), and now that I've used those, I literally can't shoot with a wood stick, or even a cheap composite stick. But I'm also not the best hockey player either.

Honestly though, with the O-stick the puck just automatically goes top corner every time I shoot, where as I can't get it up to save my life with the wood one's.

Sounds like you need to strengthen your wrists

I only play ball hockey and only use composite sticks now. I will never go back to wood

Do they break easily?

Seems like a lot of $, and I think I read a sports research paper somewhere (from U of C IIRC) that composite sticks do not perform any better than wood sticks. Will see if I can find the link . . .

Wooden sticks outperformed the composite sticks.

"This correlates to what is happening on the ice where the composite sticks break after some slashes," Dryden said.

Players who prefer the composite sticks say it makes their shots harder, but Dryden expressed some reservations.

"The composite stick does load quickly and get the shot away quicker," he said. "And there appears to be a bonus about increasing the velocity of the wrist shot.

"The slap shot seems to be very comparable -- wood and composite.

"But for some reason, the composite seems to be better on the wrist shot."

As long as it's in one piece.

Yes, wood sticks will produce a harder shot than composite stick. However, composite sticks with tapered shafts (the majority of them) will produce a more accurate shot due to concentrated loading and the puck will get off your blade quicker thus reducing the time that the goaltender has to react from the point of release to the time the puck reaches the goal from a given location.
