Woah, woah, woah. Was just a joke dude.

It is my perception that usually these threads head down a familiar "What is happening, the city is growing and violence is getting worse" kinda path. Just making a joke about the seeming "light-hearted" atmosphere in this one.

The man who ended up dieing played on my soccer team. I didn't know him that well but enough to say that he was a nice and happy guy. But who knows, you get drunk, rowled up and bad things can happen. This is the second guy I know to have been murdered. The first being a real good friend at Cowboys about 5 years ago. It's just so foolish. Puts things into perspective. You just can't hate anybody after realizing someone's death. I just wish some people realized how prescious life is and maybe we'd respect each other a little more.

I happened to drive by there yesterday around noonish and I could swear there were bullet casings on the ground in the parking lot. The cops had their little green cones with numbers marking a few spots in the parking lot and yeah, I swear there was a bullet casing beside the one I looked at (from my truck ~30' away).

Yeah. He was a great guy. I was in Mexico in May and both of the guys that got stabbed was part of our 13 guy entourage. Partied with them both and I don't have a bad thing to say about either of them. The guy that survived was the son of one of the owners of The Whiskey and Flames Central. He was an inch away from dieing too

A war zone...

We still have one of the lowest homicide rates in Canada (which has a significantly low rate in the world and way lower that The US) but we're a war zone?

Wow.

I spend my life in some really screwed up places in the city and I've never been in serious danger. For the most part keep yourself clean and you are fine.

And yeah, sometimes innocents got caught, but for you to say Calgary is dangerous... a WAR ZONE. Sorry there are no figures to back you claim.

None.
