D'ohhhh, should've read the whole post, not just 3/4s of it.

Could you check with your local garage? I know I've taken my used motor oil and I just pour it into a drum.

Put down some cardboard before dumping the gas onto a couple of logs. Ignite. The gas wont have time to seep beneath the cardboard and into the ground. It's gasoline. Rumour has it that many millions of cars burn many millions of barrels of oil daily. A couple of containers in the throw and go vs into the atmosphere isn't going to start an ice age.
