Just read the bio of Bernardo / Homolka on Wikipedia. I never really knew much about this case, until now. This coward of a man needs to die. If I were a religious man, I would cower in fear as to what the higher entities would do to him in his afterlife.

I agree with the other suggestion; let him roam amongst the rest of the federal prison inmates. Regardless of thie criminal histories, I hear prisoners in general don't take too kindly to child rapists.

My sister actually used to date Kristen French's cousin at the time all this happened... it was pretty shocking.

I read a book about the cases and it was pretty disgusting. It went into great details and described many of the videos. I don't think I was ever so repulsed in my life. The book also included "rap songs" that Bernardo wrote and they really give you an insight as to what kind of egomaniac he was. He apparently thought he was going to be the next "Vanilla Ice".

Guess he couldn't decide on Vanilla Ice or Ted Bundy. The person that really outrages me in this whole Bernardo Homolka thing is Homolka's Mother! My brother knows someone that worked with her, and she actually brags about how great Karla is at work all the time! I guess she forgets how Karla killed her other daughter after drugging her and raping and kililng her as a present to Paul.

I'm not one for the death penalty for a variety of reasons, but it would be an easy way out for him anyway. He's going to spend the next 50 years in the slammer until he croaks as a forgotten old man without a family or anyone who wants anything to do with him.

I guess it's not really "weird" considering who he is, but the weird thing I see with the "I'm not a liar" statement is that he actually thinks he has a reputation to protect.

Like he believes someone out there would be thinking "I knew Paul was a murdering rapist pedophile, but at least he was a man of his word".

I chuckled at this, good point.

At the time Bernardo got arrested I was in high school in Brantford, Ontario, a couple hours-ish away from St. Catherines. We had a boarder staying with us at the time who got arrested in St. Catherines on the same day on either a DUI or some kind of mischief charge (I don't remember which) and as he had outstanding warrants, the cops threw him in the poke for a bail hearing. Anyway, he happened to be in a holding cell just down the hall from Bernardo when he was brought in. The cops knew that they had caught the "St. Catherines" rapist and they put him into a protective custody situation right away before even a bail hearing happened because of fears that he would never make it to his first court date.

Edit to add - there was a very brief period where we thought our boarder might have been the one who was arrested as the St. Catherines rapist, because he called to tell us he had been arrested but didn't say why at the time and we heard later in the day that someone had been arrested as the rapist in St. Catherines but they didn't immediately say who... It was pretty freaky actually.
