Wow we should have started a p90x thread!
I already mentioned this to Ozy_Flame in via PM but when I downloaded the program it didn’t come with the diet portion so I haven’t been follow it at all. I’ve changed me eating habits since I’ve started (no eating past 7, eating small meals every couple of hours, lots of fruits and vegetables, etc.) but when Ozy mentioned how important and specific the diet was I figured I should probably follow it.
But as far as the actual program I really enjoy it. Very intense, demanding, and high energy, I pour buckets of sweat during each workout but I feel like a million bucks afterwards.

And you don't need much equipment? I'm not really familiar with the program itself....just that a lot of people recommend it.

All you need is dumbells (or resistance bands) and a chin-up bar. No barbells, no heavy weight equipment / gym membership... nothing like that.
There are other things though that can enhance the experience with added investment, such as a scale, a BODY FAT CALIPER (lol), a stopwatch, and of course, an investment into the food you eat.

Did P90x from New Years through the end of March (roughly 90 days ). It is a good program, but time demanding. The lightest day will be about an hour 15, the longest about an hour and half (YogaX). It is a good program, and if you stick with it you will see results.
As far as nutrition goes, eating more often is important. Get 5 to 6 meals in a day. Don't worry about their crap "recovery drink" schpiel, but don't replace it with Gatorade or some other equivalent high sugar drink either.
Water is your friend.
As for my body fat, I got it down to about 13.4 when on P90x... then spring came... then there were playoff beers 'n wings... Currently sitting at 14.7%, which isn't too bad for an old fart.
Not doing P90x right now as I just can't justify the time commitment with the golfing and the kids and such... doing something else that is only about 45 minutes a day, split between 30 in the morning and 15 in the evening.

I'm more and more interested in this. Is it basically a workout plan combined with a diet?

Basically, yes. It is basically 2 different programs - routine one you do for 3 weeks, then a "recovery" week that includes mostly cardio, yoga and stretching, then another 3 weeks of a second routine followed by another "recovery" week. The last session is 1 week of phasse 1, 1 week of phase 2, then phase 1 for a week, then phase 2... then one more "recovery" week to get 90 days.
The 2 phases are similar except for the muscle groups worked on "muscle days". If I recall correctly, phase 1 is:
1 - chest and back
2 - plyo x (basically cardio with lots of jumping and leg work)
3 - shoulders and arms followed by ab ripper X
4 - yoga x
5 - legs followed by ab ripper X
6 - kenpo (billy banks kick boxing kinda thing)
phase 2 is the exact same except for days 1 and 3 which get turned into:
1 - chest, shoulders, tri plus abs
3 - bis and back, plus abs (I might have these backwards - can't remember anymore).
It uses no special equipment other than a pullup bar and dumb bells or a band.

I might switch over to this for a change when I hit a few more of my goals.
Sounds VERY interesting.

I'm reviving an old thread, but I started p90x 2 weeks ago and i'm loving it.
I was already in pretty good shape before I started and I don't need to lose weight.
I "found" the program and it came with the nutrition guide, but I didn't open it until i read this thread. It seems pretty strict. To follow it would take a lot of dedication for sure.
I eat pretty well as it is just using common sense. I'm sure i'd get better results following the plan, but I am happy with what I eat. I don't count calories or sodium or any of that, I just try to make good healthy decisions. Don't know if that's good enough or not, but it's good enough for me.
I was doing another full body workout 3x a week for a long time and I just got bored with it and needed something else. I thought the 6x a week with p90 was pretty exceessive, but I find myself wanting to work out when I get home from work, which i've not always had before. It's fun to meet the challenge.
I haven't had too much trouble with the workouts so far. They are tough, don't get me wrong, and I love the plyo workout...i work up a huge sweat on that one, but I am able to go right along with everyone without having to take extra breaks. The one thing that throws me off is yoga, but I am getting better at it.
Some of you guys should be done or deep into p90 by now. How has it been?

Next week will be last week before my recovery week for phase 1… I have had to string out the first phase for a bit because I missed days here and there. I have been doing it for about 3 weeks while eating right (I don’t follow the nutrition plan exactly but I try to follow the portion plan)
It has really worked well for me in that 3 weeks I have last roughly 15 pounds and can do more pushups/pull-ups than I have ever been able too
The results are steady and a feel great, if you guys have just started stick too it I know by the end of this thing I will be in the best shape of my life

I've been slacking off on the eationg guide - mainly because it is very expensive and time-consuming. I'm sure if I maintained it, it would have been extremely beneficial, however.
I am in Week 4 of the program, but have missed several days due to commitments. However, the days I have NOT missed are the weight-lifting days. I really look forward to those. I'm more cut than where I was three weeks ago, but my overall size is only slightly bigger. The size gains come in weeks nine to twelve.
This week is all cardio / movement. It's good, but I find myself replacing my workouts with walks / soccer practices sometimes. I'm sure I get the same benefit out of it.
I'm trying to follow the nutrition guide more, and consistently get back into the cardio workouts. Starting week 5, I'm going to get 100% serious again. One thing I've noticed everyday though, is that I'm going through almost half a litre of cottage cheese and half a litre of yogurt, and I'm eating protein supplements everyday.
I feel more energized, and can't wait for the results to start showing more, but that will come in time. I should quit smoking though, kinda defeats the purpose of doing P90X.
To anyone who hasn't seen this program, it's REALLY good. Shock muscle-training is a great workout, and it keeps things fresh. Every day is different, and the program as a whole is a lot of fun.
On the plus side, my girlfriend says I toss her around alot more now.

It will be interesting to see how many of you stick with it through Stampede week (for those in Calgary). I can't imagine a) finding the time and b) being sober (or at least not hung over) enough to do it even if I did have the time.
On a side note, body fat for Old-Fart down to 13.4%, but Stampede week has started.... next week could be ugly...

That's my plan too, hahha... Kenpo tomorrow morning and Sunday is recovery day... BIG recovery. Like, not standing, type of recovery.
