Yeah, they don't want him because they don't want their club to spend a crap load of cash. That's understandable, it's not like they hate what he brings or what he represents.

All the stuff you are bringin up(the middle finger, the crying, the diving, all that crap) is in the past. He has matures so much over the past 2 seasons. Yes, he is prone to go to ground a little easy, but a lot of the non-calls are based on reputation. He gets fouled more than any other player in the world....Why?? Because once he gets by a defender, they're not catching up.

1. I am not a fan of Machester United and any of their players.
2. Find me a soccer player that does not dive and I will try to find you a man that doesn't check out a hot girl that walks by.

This kid is one of the best soccer players in the world, hands down. While he dives, whines and used to act like a primadonna, you still gotta respect him for his soccer skill.
And you can't help but be excited that the future of soccer looks bright with this kid leading the way of the new, young players in the game!

(Did I just say that? Bloody Man U!)

I dont think anyone is denying that he has the talent, but as for his maturity? This mystical, magical attitude adjustment that has miraculously appeared? I havent seen it.

We'll see how he does captaining his country at Euro.

And he should probably stay in England, I think he'd find life in a much tougher Spanish league too difficult.

I'm not saying that he all of a sudden changed and is an angel on the field, but I do truly believe he has matured. He doesn't go to ground as much as he used to, he doesn't pout as much as he used to and that shows in how he has progressed as a player. Over the last couple years, he has bulked up. I ain't saying he's a physical force by any strecth, but he is not the scrawny little rake he used to be and proof of this is how bloody good he is in the air. He's scored plenty of goals with his head this year and a few beauty headers as well. The one in the CL in Lisbon against Sporting was great.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZeb2OLDsPk (1:55 mark of this vid)
He goes to the dirty areas to win the ball.

But he still does pout and whine to refs on occasion, and nothing makes me more upset as a Portugal fan then when I see him on the ground, raising his arms or banging the ground. Get up and play on dude!!!

Ronaldo is getting better for not being a wuss... in fact, he reminds me a lot of Sidney Crosby in that respect. Still a whiny punk, but not nearly as bad as he was.

However, the worst two places he could possibly go are Real Madrid or Inter Milan. Those teams breed poor character and egotism. Looks like he's on his way to Real though... apparently he agreed terms with Madrid.

I cant agree more. Very few players that go to these teams from other major clubs find enduring success.

Real Madrid is where great players go to retire.

As much as it may seem like that, many of the older players had stellar years with Madrid, including a couple World Footballers of the years won while playing for Madrid

Zidane-winner in 03, runner up in 06
Figo-Winner in 01, runner up in 00
Ronaldo-winner in 02

Yeah, well those 3 would have won those awards playing for Derby County.

For everyone of those you get a McManaman, Owen and Beckham.

Well considering Beckham is pretty much advocating Ronaldo to stay at Man U, that should speak volumes about Real.
That is where, like Locke said, great players go to play out their final years and then bow out of the game.
But I think Ronaldo will go where the money is, which is GREAT for me (being an Arsenal fan).

i agree with the last few comments - madrid just isn't the place for a hungry and competitive player who is and needs to continue learning.
I believe the Premier League to be far more competitive than in Spain, it is certainly played at a faster rate and with more passion.

You clearly dont watch much Spanish soccer.

Spain is a much more attacking style whereas England plays the most defensive style. Passion is difficult to quantify, but I'd argue that the Spanish league is played with just as much as the EPL.

Faster rate? I'm not going to touch that one, but I recommend that you watch other national leagues. As for competition, I think the Spanish league is just as if not more competitive than the EPL. One reason. Theres more than 4 competitive teams in Spain.

Check the point totals in the Spanish league, they're much closer than EPL. Not as many minnow teams that get walked on on a regular basis.

Sorry, but I don't see how you can say that with a straight face. Ronaldo, great player that he is, is probably the best (worst?) diver in the world. I'm sure that the fact that he plays for the Mancs makes me dislike him more than I usually would but his diving prowess is the stuff of legends.

Manchester United have submitted an official complete to FIFA over the conduct of Real Madrid.

This is classic pot calling the kettle black though isn't it?

Ferguson and Man U in general are known for tapping up.

Japp Stam said as much in his book and was subsequently shipped out very quickly.

Ronaldinho was reportedly tapped up with the PSG president stating back then, "Manchester have not played the game in line with FIFA regulations. They have negotiated directly with the player, they haven’t got an agreement from his club.”

Fulham complained about the Saha transfer,

Sunderland chairman Bob Murray described Fergie’s approaches to David Bellion as “shabby, despicable, disrespectful, arrogant and unprofessional”.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in 2006; “We have told Manchester United that they should stop trying to tempt Owen Hargreaves. If they don’t then we will have to turn to FIFA”.

PSV Eindhoven’s chairman Harry van Raaij said this about Fergie’s behaviour in courting Ruud Van Nistlerooy in 2000. Specifically his quote was “he has crossed the line of decency”.

In 2004, when Arjen Robben was given the red carpet treatment at United’s training ground while still at PSV player, van Raaij flew into a rage and said: “It is Ferguson’s way of doing business. A leopard never changes his spots”.

United might very well have opened a can of worms here. They really have no room to talk.

That's your hate for Man U talking. There is no way that he is even close to being the biggest diver in the world. His reputation that he earned and rightfully so when he was a teenager is still hanging over him. But tomorrow, watch the game, and let me know the exact instances that you think he dives. You can't just say he's a diver and not back it up, so let's re-visit this tomorrow after Portugal's win.
