I checked on the little guy at 11:30 pm. Still there. I checked again at 2:30 am. Still there. I checked again at 5:30 am. Still there. In fact, it looked like it hadn't moved at all.
Given the chilly temperatures last night and my fruitless efforts to shoosh it away with the garden hose, I feared it may have froze to death. So of course I went and got a long stick (broom handle, actually) and nudged it. Just as with the hose, it turned its head and gave me a contemptuous look. Not dead.
Most of the stuff I had read (par example:
http://www.srd.gov.ab.ca/fishwildlif...ebrownbat.aspx) suggested these things would be out and about at night and just chilled temporarily during the day around your house. Doesn't seem to be the case. I wonder if this little dude is sick or... maybe preggers?
