Lauren Harris apparently.

Oh hell, we get to see Steve Harris' hot daughter. Niiiice! Have no idea what she sounds like though.

The opening act, Lauren Harris, is Steve Harris' daughter. I listened to a couple of her songs on myspace or somewhere and I've decided not to worry about missing her set.
I'm looking forward to Maiden though. Quite a bit.

Cool kids (not like fotze) can listen to a few songs here. You don't have to be a member or anything.

I think her first album is called "Generica".

This will be my 5th time seeing Maiden live. You could say I'm a fan.
Can't wait...now where are my studded wrist bands from 1984...

Cool, she's fairly hot. She would probably be even hotter if she wasn't a heavy metal singer. I just don't dig the heavy metal chick look.

I had tickets to see Maiden and Twisted Sister (or was it KISS?) many many years ago, but I didn't use them because the Flames were playing New Jersey on 2&7. I bailed on a friend and we were never good pals after that. It was a 2-2 tie if I remember.

Ha ha. It was Twisted Sister in the Corral. Do you know that Swerve magazine that comes in the Herald on Fridays? There is an article in there about a guy who went to that show when he was 11 years-old. I'll try to find an online version.
You were a real Flames fan to ditch Maiden/TS for a game against the lowly Devils. Did it happen to be that blizzard game that only like 400 people were at?
And I hate to admit this, but it usually takes me 30 or 40 minutes to craft a two line post, so that stuff about Lauren Harris was posted while I was writing. I'm shocked and hurt that you would point out my failures!

Not exactly ground-breaking, but that's what you missed. Me too. I probably had topsiders and a Polo shirt and would have received a severe beating had I showed up.

That article could have been my story as well. I was there at the Corral for that show. I would have been 13 I guess and it was glorious.

I mentioned this band before, but check out EDWARD THE GREAT, Calgary's own Iron Maiden tribute band:
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndID=100313375
Edward The Great was formed in 2004 by 5 of Calgary's finest musicians. With a passion for melodic, harmonic and intricate metal, Edward The Great delivers a highly energized night of the best of Iron Maiden. Spanning 3 decades of Maiden classics, Edward The Great is sure to have the masses on their feet for the entire show. Complete with the fabled "Eddie" and a few other Maiden staples, this is a show you have to see.

...but nothing in the Vancouver Sun. Philistines!
This was my first ever Iron Maiden Concert (for those still waiting for Thursday, they blew the doors off of a packed house in the Pacific Colesium last night in Vancouver; intrigued why they weren't at GM Place).
I was 11 and living in Calgary in 1984, and was strictly forbidden from going to see them by my fiercely fundamentalist Christian parents. It's quite funny, because my brother—who bought the tickets—rents a b/ment suite from my mom, and when he told her we were going, she still managed to roll her eyes and issue a patented glare...In many respects, I really hope my mother never does change! I still remember seeing a full-colour photo spread and a two-page article after the show in the weekly rag Alberta Report (of course, my parents were subscribers; they probably cancelled it after this issue), and can vividly recall the wrenching in my stomach, that I had missed an opportunity.
Thank God for second chances...Last night was easily the loudest, and probably the best Rock show I have ever attended. The crowd energy was incomparable. At one point, after about the third song, and when Bruce Dickenson decided to give his pipes a rest (how the hell does he sing like that for two hours at his age?!), the already deafening roar actually escalated, and maintained it's crescendo for a full four or five minutes as he gazed on.
Now that I have fulfilled a life-long dream, I only hope now that the next time they are in town—if there in fact is a next time: at least one or two of my three boys will be old enough to appreciate and sustain the ear-damage with no ill effects. That would be epic.

Saw them the other night in Vancouver....absolutely awesome. Better than the other show I'd seen on the Brave New World tour.
Fear Of The Dark may have been the highlight of the whole set for me - the crowd just ate it up. No wonder they decided to leave that song in despite not fitting into the 80-89 set.
You can see why 30 years into their career these guys still sell out stadiums/arenas around the world...what a show! And giant Eddie (in Somewhere in Time era space gear) walking around is hilarious.
Enjoy! Wish I was going again.

Does anyone know if it's possible to go see Ed Force One at the airport?
Might as well go for the whole nerd experience.
If not the Calgary one, what about the Edmonchuk airport? I'm going up there tomorrow afternoon and it is right off the highway.
