Yar. My Jimmy is terrible on gas. It is half the reason I'm buying something new. When I lived in Auburn Bay and I had to drive deerfoot every day, I was getting about 400km per 60 liter fill. Now that I'm in Bankview, I'm getting about 300 km per 60 liters.

Am I the only one that thinks of "turd" when they see the TRD label on Toyota trucks?

Nice looking trucks but that acronym needs to be changed or they need to stop printing it all over the sides of the trucks.

My toyota experience goes back a few years but it was terrible. Bad enough that I really cant see myself ever buying another one.

As far as trucks are concerned, I cant seem to steer away from the full size GM's and Chevys. Fords are growing on me a bit too over the last few years.

Yikes! That's not good mileage. My 2005 Ford Escape gets me close to 500km on a 60 litre tank

4X4... you say you want decent mileage or something better than the Jimmy...
I just compared a '04 Jimmy 4x4 to a new Tundra and Colorado... Neither provide much of an increase in fuel economy. My S10 4x4 got the same mileage as you nearly... When I started to get concerned over the price of gas I started looking at newer vehicles that compared to it... I quickly found there wasn't much savings by moving to a newer vehicle. To make the savings worthwhile, I had to make some lifestyle choices. Just saying that if mileage is your main concern, look at other avenues. If it's not (which it shouldn't be when looking at trucks), then go with the Toyota.

Here's a good site for comparing mileage.

This lists the Tacoma amongst the most efficient small pickup trucks.... slightly better than the Ridgeline and Frontier.

I don't know what other avenues are available to me. I need a truck for work and I also need a truck for my after work lifestyle (camping and other outdoor stuff).
I considered buying an RSX or something for the evening and weekend stuff, but then I'd be paying a second insurance bill plus maintenance on a second vehicle.

The Toyota website says that the Tacoma uses between 10 and 14 liters per 100 km. That's 25-50% better than my Jimmy. That's quite an improvement considering that I fill up once a week at about $80 per fill. If the Tacoma had the same sized tank, I'd be saving $20-$40 per fill. Call it $30 and multiply by 4 fills per month and that's $120 per month.
I guess it's no great hell, but hey, it adds up to nearly $1500 per year.
Besides that, the maintenance on the Jimmy is starting to add up as well. It's definitely time for a new vehicle.

Thanks for the link, I'm going to play with that a bit. And thanks to everyone else's input. I think that the Tacoma will be the truck I buy.
