you could also use PL premium. It won't set up for a couple hours so you will need to support the bottom until the glue is dry. Maybe a couple of finishing nails to support it and tape to the walls. But after it is dry it will not move until you smash it with a crowbar.

Stay away from glue (whether you're installing a mirror or just looking to get high) it's terrible for both.

The clips work. You are talking about the metal ones that actually cup the glass and not those mini hands that just swivel, right?

And this is something that you'll want to check about ten times before you knock in the bottom clips. Get a level and a square. You want the mirror level (obviously) but you'll likely also have to compensate for the wall not being totally square. When you look at the finished project, you're more likely to notice whether it's square to the wall rather than whether it's level to the counter top.

Yup, four metal clips.

My only beef with using adhesive is how permanent it is. I mean, if you know you will be leaving that area the way it is for years then have at it. If there is a chance you change it more down the road, the adhesive would make removing that mirror a big job likely damaging the drywall when it comes off creating even more work.

Honestly, the clips will do just fine.
