Congrats to both teams. Hard to imagine a more wild playoffs, so it's fitting it came down to Game 7. Sharks had a great turnaround season. They made some big moves to go for it all this year and it really paid off. Unfortunately someone had to lose and it was the Canes, but they really had a great season as well. Both GM's put in a lot of work this season to find a way to improve and it paid off for them both.

To bad not enough people were paying attention, see how badly Dany Heatley was overlooked for playoff MVP. Without question injuries are a huge impact but Dany's injury is the the only reason why the results played out the way they did.

Nieds play wasn't that much more the Suter and by no way did Suter deserve any such honour. very disappointing, but for those four that were paying attention and voted for him, thank you

So you think Heater should have won it because him getting injured hurt the Canes so much?

yes/no
I think he or Belfour should have won it because they were the two best SIM players throughout the playoffs. The Hurricanes fell one goal short in the 7th game (3rd period goal).... Heatley was the Canes leading scorer and theres no question he would have had a huge inpact of any chance the 'Canes had in winning.

All Playoffs long I heard about how bad OV wise the 'Canes were, that it was Dany Heatley and a bunch of pylons. I have zero problems with a Shark player winning... Belfour was amazing all playoffs. The only reason Neids won was because he's a great NHL player and that alone. He played no better then Suter on my team. He won the award on his great play around the puck and not the scoresheet. it's too bad this is a sim league that runs on stats and not something that we can watch and enjoy someones smooth play.

I more get the feeling some people just voted for the best OV player from the sharks rather then voting for who they thought was the mvp of the playoffs. Should heatley have won... who knows, I honestly can see one of four players but the fact that he picked up 4 votes out of 31... I really wonder how much it would change and how many votes Neids would have got if it was Kilger that scored in the 3rd rather then the Sharks. Who scored that one goal in the 7th game of the Stanley Cup shouldn't overhaul the whole voting results...

The award should go to the best sim players play playoffs not just the best name on the team that won. Nieds was a great defenceman no question but it's not like he was ahead of the pack of the other D... and so much so that he outshined the 3 other forwards and 1 goalie.... hell honestly did he really outplay the Canes back up goalie

Heres the 3 top scoring defenceman during the playoffs

S.NIEDERMAYER (SHA) 22 2-18-20
R.SUTER (HUR) 24 2-17-19
S.HILL (HUR) 24 8-10-18

Seriously, how can anyone think that Nieds numbers are better the Hill, 8 goals. He wasn't even close to being the best defenceman during the playoffs forget about the landslide best player.

Jeez, touchy Doug? If Heatley stay's healthy....of course he's MVP. But I'm sorry...you got to close the deal in the playoffs, and Heatley didn't get that chance. If you'd won I probably pick Boyes as the MVP. In my opinion Niedermayer was a top pairing defenceman on a Sharks team that shut down the Hawks, Oilers, and Wings on the way to the final and than were able to win a 7 game final series. To me Boyes was closer to the MVP than Heatley because he had a good final series too. And if your team wins....Hill would get some credit too.

Sorry I voted for Niedermayer, hold a grudge if you like.

I'm sorry Sly if you think it's touchy, I'm just being honest and I honestly believe that I'm correct and just saying so. We have awards in this league and that makes things fun... but I would really like to see some awards to go to the SIM players that deserve such honours rather then the NHL person's performance. Plus I'm not asking for credit for Hill, he wasn't even close to being an MVP... thats pretty much what my point is. and as for being the top pairing that shut down those three teams... you would have to ask them but from what I've seen from the Sharks their top pairing was Ohlund and Allen

I'm one of those people that believe that the award should go to the best player for the playoffs and not just the best name player on the stanley cup winning team.

I would be voicing this just as much if I was ousted in the first round. You watch things closely Sly an whatever your pick is is cool by me and I no you have your reasons... but I highly doubt others cared enough to vote past a name

loob had it right, I bet if you ask the GM's Hawks, Oilers Wings, Canes... and also the Thrashers, Penguins, Sabres, Sharks who beat them I think you would have a far better perspective of who the MVP was.

either or it's a dead horse now, hopefully a couple things I've said helps a couple SIM players in the year end awards

^ I looked at the statistics and did follow things. I actually voted for Boyes based on the fact that he statistically was far and away the best player. I didn't vote for Nieds, but still didn't get to Heatley either...

I voted Hossa because every time the Sharks were rolling he seemed to be a huge part of it. If the Canes would have won my vote would have been Heatley.

I disagree Doug that the MVP should go to the best player in the playoffs. Personally I don't think the award should to go anyone on any team besides the champion, no matter how good a playoffs they might have had.

There could be countless ways that Heatley and/or Boyes played better over the last 4 rounds than any other player in the league. But if their team didn't win, they aren't getting my vote. Olli Jokinen was pretty good too, but his team didn't win. If a guy had 20 points in the first round but his team lost in 7 games, that's a pretty damn good playoffs but no way I'm voting him MVP.

So that's how I ended up voting for Neids. Not because he's the biggest name, but because I think he was the most valuable player on the winning team. Belfour was great but only on the ice for 14 of 22 Shark playoff games. Not to mention he only won 2 games in the finals, and in one he only faced 4 shots. And the Sharks had 5 forwards with around a PPG in the playoffs, the highest scorer only had 24 points in 22 games, so I don't feel one forward in particular was that valuable.
