It's hasn't rained for over 4 hours so hopefully we seen the last of the heavy rain. It's all that rain that fell in foothills today that has us concerned

Anyhoo, here's hoping the check value works if it comes to that.

The flow for the Highwood River at High River at 1:00 AM was recorded at 600 m³/s and still rising. The current forecast is for the Highwood River to peak over the next few hours at levels similar to those seen in 2005.

Water levels for the Elbow River at Bragg Creek peaked before midnight and are dropping but remain higher than normal.

The water levels along the Sheep River near Black Diamond peaked late last night and continue to fall. Water levels in Three point Creek are reaching peak values.

Well, we had some real nervous moments down at the G2 Ranch last night. Three Point Creek rose up into my parents backyard, and was seeping into the basement. We got two pumps going to keep ahead of the water in the basement. The water kept rising, and finally crested around midnight. Good thing - any higher, and it could have got as bad as 2005. We had water flooding into the fields and into the horse barn.

Highway 22 was about to be barricaded around midnight, as there was about 3 feet of water across the road near Millarville.

The water has gone down quite a bit overnight, so we are hopeful the worst is over. I took some video, but didn't take any pictures.

No problems for 20 years, now two floods in 3 years. Dad was wondering if global warming has something to do with this.

Glad to hear things worked out ok, Troutman.

The Highwood crested at about 6 am this morning. Officals say we had the same water levels as we had during the flood of 05. Town was more prepaired this time and saved a lot of homes on the NW side where i live.

Also took a bunch of pictures that i will post later.

There are some big logs, and entire trees floating by.

A bunch got caught under the train bridge.

Was told that another day of heavy rain would have been disaster for the town.

The 9 hole Rio Vista golf course got hammered. The river eroded alot of the bank adjacent to the course. Not sure how many holes were lost.

From the NW side of High River.

The temporary berm that diverted the river that had over flowed the banks upstream, into the grassy field and back to the river again. Preventing the river from flowing down the street and flooding homes.

The course survived the flooding for the most part. There was one hole next to the river on the mountain view track that got a bit flooded.

Flooding doesn't surprise me. I was expecting it considering the amount of rain we got in the hills. I was at the rally race and it rained non-stop the entire day, and it had to be more than 60mm. More rain than they forecasted. The backroads were fine but at the end of the day had turned to rivers. With the creeks already swelling before, that 60mm did it in. Glad I got out of there before it all diverged to the lower level and reaked havoc.

Some more near my place.

The berm they put in kept the water from the houses and the golf course for the most part.
