Actually in the states where hanging in still legal (compared to the more popular lethal injection, the chair, or gas), Obese people can't be hung since it's "inhumane"

Next he will want an extra seat on an airplane cause of his disability - oh wait.

What a complete joke and farse. They should force him on some all liquid diet. Thats what he should get for trying to pollute our society with illegal drugs.

Wicked, they never should have got rid of hanging, now that was a deterent to not commit a major crime and quite the public spectacle to boot. What do they hang them with though, a cow chain?

That's probably why.

Everything I've says maximum is closer to what you see in movies. Once you go down to medium or minimum sercurity then you start getting the luxuries you mentioned. A lot of medium security prisons house inmates who are going to be released soon after serving most of the time is maximum (and have good discipline records) based on what I've read. Those kinds of places would probably be pretty mellow since no one wants to risk extending their sentence and going back to max.

Well, the current formula for calculating drop distance needed to produce the dislocation of your vertebrae gets iffy after 300lb. There was a few cases where the head would be separated from the body upon hanging....

Perhaps they should build a different type of super-max prison...
