I pass by that intersection at least once a week. I'm going to make a point of stopping there just because she signed up to answer that question. Indeed, CP is everywhere.
Hey 81flames, are you a lurker or did a friend tip you off that your family business was being discussed here?

4624 Varsity Drive NW
Take Crowchild North, (or West, I guess) exit on Shaganappi South, left at the lights (Shell gas station, Varsity Drive). It's in the strip mall on your left.

F.E. Osborne was like Edmonton and St. Vincent would be Calgary. I hated missing my charter bus and having to catch the 43 or 37 home and having to ride with those skids.
 I miss the 90's

Very Greasy pizza, and they sell sub sandwiches too. Probably clogs the arteries but I developed a taste for it in junior high. They sell them by the slice at lunch time. Very good.

Claeren; Say hi next time you're in, I don't recognize your name, but I will probably recognize you in person.
4X4; I've been a lurker on here for years...I've always meant to sign up. You guys are ontop of everything...I swear, this place is faster than any news source out there.
Vincent kids...my mom loves you guys...she says you guys are the best customers. She even remembers the first 3 guys that came in when we opened up for lunch 15 years ago. They came in to use the phone, my mom gave them free pizza...and they have been customers since then.

It's the unofficial method of recruiting new CP members - - start a thread about a real person and see if they sign up - - right Fotze.
Welcome to CP 81flames

Greasy for sure!
Really though there are 3 distinct things:
Subs
Pizza by the slice at lunch
Pizza
(Salads too on the menu but who the hell orders those when the other 3 are so damn good? Maybe they have 4 fantastic things?)
The Pizza is thick and greasy, Ingelwood Pizza is somewhat similar if you have been there?
The Pizza by the slice is thinner but still greasy, and for the price is killer IMO - although that may be all the memories that come back and not the food? lol
And then the Subs, that is where it really is at. Pizza definitely feels a bit unhealthy where-as a whole wheat 8 inch (<best part, bigger than 6inch smaller than 12inch) sub feels remotely healthy day after day, although who can say no to the special sauce? For the price there is no where that comes close. I used to always get the Turkey but the Pizza (with pinnapple) and Donair have been on my rotation lately as 15 years of Turkey can get to be a bit much (although not really, i could still eat a Tops-Turkey sub every day).
I never realized that you had 'only' been open for 15 years?! I must have been going there almost since you opened (1994?)!
Oh, and people should know that while we all call it "Tops" the sign says "Varsity Pizza". And they are closed Sunday (which i still forget 3 or 4 times a year) and go on a summer vacation each year!
And the charm is not (just) in the food, it is in Maria and Jim remembering your order for 15 straight years or playing pac-man in the lobby, or seeing old school friends there because we all go there still, or fighting for a parking spot in the tiny lot, or trying to time it perfectly as to not hit the school-kid rush while also knowing you used to be one of those kids, or sitting and reading the entire Herald cover to cover and then simply HAVING to order a slice of pizza because the sub and chocolate milk were just not enough... haha
Claeren.

All I can say is that I wish would bring back that awsome yellow logo with the two black eages/ravens on it like a Crest/Coat of arms.
That thing is burned into my memory as a kid as the coolest logo ever. Why did they get rid of it for a generic colorful MS Paint style one with a sub on it? I thought it was just a change of ownership. Are you guys saying it's the same restaurant as it was back in the 80s owned by the same people???

My parents have run that shop for about 27 years...it was about 15 years ago that they opened for lunch. We changed the name cuz Tops is owned by an old business partner of my dad's and he wanted to change the menu. There is still a Tops on 4th and one on Southland... I think they still have that logo.

FEO Like Edmonton? C'mon, More like we were like Calgary and you were like Vancouver - bunch of whiny, pu$$, pony riders! Catholic school.. sheesh..
Good pizza though, when I'm hungover and feel like - well not to be rude, but eating badly I love having some "jim's"
And IIRC one of the cousins was my math teacher at FEO ROWR!!
