Name a drug where coming down isn't the worst thing ever. Weed doesn't count.

It all sounds good until #5
1. Hanging with friends in the Summer.
2. Going to the beach.
3. Scoring some booze while under age (17).
4. Deciding to go for a swim around midnight.
5. Peaking on quality LSD while night swimming Mara lake in the Shuswap.
Let's just say I can't forget about that trip no matter how hard I try (16 years later).
Night swimming + Lake + LSD = a rough time.

^^^ lol I can a girlfriend that warned me against swimming on acid once because of one of her experiences.
Water + hallucinogens = bad and dangerous times!
Had a friend that had five rules/reminders for staying safe when on hallucinogens:
1. Fire will burn me.
2. Water will drown me.
3. Buses will hit me.
4 I cannot fly.
5. Bathrooms are not my friend. (Cause of the mirrors)

Yeah, those 'murderous rampages' are just another urban myth. I have a hard time believing someone on acid would have enough coordination and strength of mind to kill one person successfully never mind go on a rampage!
One of those 'drug stories' told to keep people off them. There's lots of stories like that told by parents when your young or other authority figures, like:
Try drugs ONCE and you'll be addicted forever.
Pushers and dealers prey on kids turning them into addicts.
The health care system spends a lot of money on people who do illegal drugs.
Course there are nuggets of truth here and there, but a lot of the stories get blown way out of context by people who really have zero experience in the first place.

Well I know a guy who got chased by a cop on horseback through Fish Creek while peaking on acid....Imagine that bad trip!!
Yeah, I tried it back in high school. Laughed so hard 7-up came out of my nose. Spent hours looking for Waldo in a magic wand, and just about shat myself when he was found. Tried to eat pizza, and burned my mouth worse than I've ever burnt it in my life. It's like mushrooms X10.
I don't think I'd ever do it again though, it's a little too intense for my liking. Once you're on it you're REALLY on it, so if you have a bad trip you're pretty much skeeerewed.

Remind me not to hang around this guy during his 12-hour acid trip.

I did acid before I smoked pot. The worst trip wasn't even a hallucination: I was walking home @ 4:30 am and 2 people were walking toward me. As they got closer: one person had their face painted black and the other had their face painted red. I thought it was ######ed up until one of them said "Hi Lisa!" and I realized it was a couple of kids from down the street... I was too messed up to ask them WHY they were walking around the streets of Nanaimo @ 4:30 am wearing Halloween makeup when it wasn't halloween...
I found the remedy for coming down after a 12 hour high was a case of beer while watching Polka Dot Door, trying to catch the kid picking his nose...

I actually saw a person jump out of a window on acid. It was only two stories and he landed in some bushes and sprained his ankle. The problem with LSD and windows is when it starts screwing with your perspective. I'm sure cases of falling out of windows are pretty common. Traffic can also be very confusing and dangerous, especially at night.
LSD is by far my favorite substance, but it's really hard to find these days. That or I'm just not hanging around the right people. Even as I got older I'd still celebrate "Bicycle Day" whenever I could.
RIP, Albert Hofmann. Had some very good times because of your little discovery.

Never heard of 'bicycle day', what's that, or where did it come from?
I can't believe these people that are saying stuff is hard to find. I'm definitely not running out there telling people to go get stuff and I'm certainly not trying to drum up any business for myself or anyone else (nor would I ever get involved with that, way too dangerous and while I'm ok with people doing whatever it is they want to do, I still have some morality issues when it comes to dealers) but I see things like that all the time. From upscale clubs, to basement bars or holes in the wall. From corporate to hippie, and pretty much everyone in between.
This city has a bit of a drug problem I think. One of the issues with so much money.

April 16th, the day Albert Hofmann first experienced the effects of the drug:
Quote:
"Everything I saw was distorted as in a warped mirror," he said, describing his bicycle ride home. "I had the impression I was rooted to the spot. But my assistant told me we were actually going very fast."
Upon reaching home, Hofmann began experiencing what he called "wonderful visions."

Never did LSD, it kind of scares me since I had a really intense mushroom trip 6 years ago.
Like they say, your mindset/surroundings are so important before you do mind altering drugs, so I stayed away.

Ok, but why BICYCLE DAY. Cause you take a 'trip'? I'm confused on the connection with bicycle.

Reading message boards is so amusing sometimes. One person complains that the cost of living is so high in this town and the next person complains that there is too much money. Lol. Acid is the cheapest drug around (if you can find it).

Heh, the cost of living is high! But I still think drugs (hard soft and in between) are pretty accessible here and I think it's because there is a lot of money in this city. I could get pretty much anything I wanted tomorrow (including acid, I don't know why everyone thinks it's so hard to find) and it's not because I hang out with 'shady' people or go to a lot of parties or anything.
For the record, I never COMPLAINED there was too much money. Just saying it's one of the symptoms of a populace with a lot of disposable income. I don't think drugs are inherently bad either, but a lot of people do take it too far.
Thanks for answering my question Firefly. Interesting that Bicycle Day and 4/20 ended up so close to each other. Maybe I'll make sure I get that week off next year!
