Nioxin has been known to help people grow their hair back, but I'm not quite there yet. My uncle has been using it since he was 30. He is now almost 50 and has thick, lush hair (even for a Ukrainian!)
How long does it take to go through all 3 treatments? seems like a lot of time in the shower?

Yeah, my doc talked me out of the Proscar because there was no dismantling of the pills with Propecia. Proscar is much more affordable though right? Isn't it a cancer drug?

Actually, I believe it is for benign prostate enlargement (BPE), not cancer.

Either way, it is exactly the same drug, just a different amount.

It's a shampoo (removes DHT from your head), a conditioner (revitalizes the roots), and a scalp treatment after the shower (usually a few sprays, like mousse, which helps bring blood flow to the scalp).

It takes about 2 months for your hair to stop receding and fully accept the Nioxin treatment, and initially you will have more-than-usual hair loss, but this is normal for all new users. After that, you hair feels like it's made of iron.

It's not a be-all,end-all product, but Nioxinism is the only hair religion I will follow. It's done miracles for me. To be honest, I can see a few new hairs sprouting along my hairline that wouldn't have been there before, although they are sparse and thin.

I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to use it, and again, its only about $80 for about 4-6 months of use (depending on how much you use). Well worth the investment.

Once you stop using it though, the recession continues. It's a lifer product.

Another advantage of proscar is that most health plans cover it because of its intended use (BPE). A friend and I have been on it for about a year and he's had significant regrowth. I haven't had any regrowth, but I'm not thinning any more either.

How's your little buddy south of the border doin? I was on Proscar for just under two years. Took close to a year before it finally started working, but it definitely works. But holy crap did it ever slaughter my libido! Part of the problem of my thinning hair is because I produce close to double the amount of testosterone of an average male. And yet despite this, when I was on the pill I could go two weeks without even having the slightest desire to "get my pipes cleaned". Considering the amount of testosterone my body naturally produces, thats pretty scary. I finally got off it when I started dating my gf, as I didnt want to have any of those problems obviously. Be careful with that stuff, seriously. I've heard it can cause permanent problems downstairs if youre on it long enough.

Now I just use a 3 step shampoo called Dr. Murad. It seems similar to Nioxin(which I used for a couple months when the problem first started), and I've noticed its really slowed down the hair loss, almost to a stand-still. It started happening about four years ago now, and unless you've known me all my life, you probably wouldn't have the slightest idea that I was losing hair.
