I think they are now.
A few years ago I recall all the "Whit Spots" in Calgary closed down, and now there are some new ones. The corporate website seems to show them all as under the same ownership, so I would think they would now all be the same.

From my experience w/ all you can eat sushi (which is extensive), I can tell you that anything carbonated is bad. It:
1) takes up room in your stomach
2) may make you hurl from trying to burp when overly full.

Yeah this thread is begging for KG's advice. He is the sage of competitive fast food eating. You should acknowledge his trailblazing feat on-air.

Yeah, eat something in the morning (nothing big) so that you are hungry at noon (blood sugar or whatever) but not "Oh my god Im sooooo hungry"-hungry. If you are too hungry at noon you wont be able to eat a lot. Only drink water when you have food in your mouth and only enough to get it moist so it slides down your throat easier.
Try and keep a steady pace, dont got all mental right off the bat cause you will hit a wall. Just keep steadily eating for the 90 minutes. Do not take a break of more than say 5 minutes. When you stop like that it gives your brain time to settle down, catch up and think "Whoaaa, ease up dude, I'm full." You can sorta suppress that by continuously eating. Once your brain figures out how full you are it is hard to keep going.

Scotty's actually pretty healthy, but I'm pretty sure he can eat. He might be the darkhorse in the event. B-mac and I are big dudes, Scotty doesn't really fit our mold, but I have a feeling if he gets far behind early, he will concede so he doesn't have to eat more burgers.
These burgers are relatively big, I don't see anyone eating more than 6.

Only 6?
What if we put together a pool and sent KG out there...could he challenge you all at this contest? (I have no idea whether KG is willing/able...but I'm sure that CP could raise the funds and send him if only for the thread excitement it would surely generate!)

I heard somewhere that another reason compedative eaters dip bread items in water was to weigh them down so that they don't come back up.
I don't know the science, and I've never been in a eating contest.
Knowing radio, I have your game plan. If it's a true morning show dynamic... it means there's a female presence. Just keep pace with the girl. Then, at the last minute... stuff a burger down your pipe to beat her.
In this case, you'll probably not want to eat at White Spot in the period that the gift card is valid, so it's not a loss being in 2nd place.

No female presence, just three dudes. Although the sales rep that sold the idea to White Spot was a chick, but that doesn't really mean much.
I was thinking that after this event, Im not gonna wanna eat at White Spot for a long time, so if I do win it, I might just sell it to somebody. But we'll see.

Just try to get second. The last thing I would want after stuffing myself with White Spot burgers for 90 minutes. Is a gift certificate to eat at White Spot. You'll get nauseous just thinking of the place.

Yeah, but I need the points. It's a 5 event challenge, winner gets 5 points, second gets 3, loser gets 1. And whoever is in last at the end of it all has to do something huge, we're thinking about negotiation with the Van Giants or Whitecaps and get them to allow us to sing the national anthem at an event or something.

So the burger eating comp is in 5 hours, took some advice, had a pretty hearty meal last night, but I haven't eaten since, but I am drinking lots of liquids right now. Feeling alright, feelin confident. I'll let you know how I did.
www.team1040.ca , you can listen to live play by play of the event, and while you're there, vote for me on the poll question, my name is t-mart.

Not sure that was the best idea, unless you were drinking stuff like juice today, things with sugar. Going that long without eating means you are gonna fill up fast. Good luck, lookin forward to reading the results!

Alright, so it's all over. I WON!! Don't really feel like a winner though. I am never doing anything like that again, Im still recovering from it, and my body is not copin well. Two lengthy visits to the crapper in the last three hours are proof.
First 9 minutes, I polished off 3 burgers and had a burger and a half fead by this point. Burgers were pretty big, I mean, they're no small cheeseburgers that you get a mcdicks. The bacon, cheese and sauce were a deadly combo.
Angus Reid, center for the BC Lions showed up for moral support, and a free lunch. He threw down 3 burgers is no time.
Fourth one went down okay, but the last few bites were just killer. At this point, one of the guys had caught up to me and was a half burger behind.
Now at this point, there was about 45 minutes left in the competition, but there was no way I could keep up any kind of steady pace, it was bite, break, bite, break, break, break, bite. It didn't help that the burgers were getting cold, as the tomato make itself really mushy.
Now, I've finished the fifth and I am defnitely feeling it, don't think I can go for a sixth, just hoping the third place guy doesn't catch up, I take a bite into number 6 and I think that could be the winning bite. Nope, the other guys catch up and with 5 minutes to go, it was me with 5 and two bites, Scott with 5 and one bite, and B-mac with 5 burgers eaten. It's essentially, mind over matter now, I take 4 more bites in the next 4 minutes, and with a minute to go, I know I'm pretty safe to win this thing, and with a minute to go, B-mac takes a bite and cant hold it in, spits up and is disqualified. But for good measure, I predicted before the event I would eat 6 and with 10 seconds remaining, I take my last bite and finish the sixth, a half burger ahead of second place.
6 burgers in 90 minutes doesn't sound like much, but with a burger of that size, I would like to see you give it a go. It was nasty and I don't plan on using that gift card to the place anytime soon.
