There is absolutely nothing wrong with drinking water. If you want to drink some Gatorade as well, go ahead. Most clear broths will have sufficient salt and the banana etc is for potassium and other minerals.
The key is to stay hydrated. What do you think people did before there was such a product as Gatorade?
People these days think you have to be fancy, drink bottled water, fuzzy water, gatorade, sports drinks, when in actuality for 99.9% of us, plain old water should be our drink of choice.

I tried doing some reasearch in between throwing up this morning. I went to a poker/UFC party and my friend has a little girl and he told me she was quite sick on Thursday with the same thing, so I'm assuming its now a virus and not food poisoning. Either way I'm sure it still has same effect.
I must say it's been two hours since I hit the bathroom for either option and yes sometimes both happened at once, so I'm hoping that is a good sign. But it's still early.
I don't recommend this experience for anyone. I feel like I've been beaten up this morning.

Lots of people blame food poisoning when they get a GI virus too. Chances are you've eaten something dodgey in the last couple days at any point in time. Careful with the food poisoning accusations. Not saying it's not, just saying it's not a slam dunk case of food poisoning

Argh. I got some sort of bad burger bug/potato salad bug back in May when I was out camping. Full on mudbutt for 3 or 4 days and I lost 10 pounds. It was like a 4 day enema. It took 2 months before I crapped right again.

Hmm come to think of it I ate at what I would consider to be another high risk establishment last Sunday. For the entire week leading up to last night I just wasn't crapping right. Mild pain in my gut area when I had to go and not one solid log. An assortment of mini logs. Then last night I eat 30 wings on a completely empty stomach and abrupty go to bed at midnight. I woke up at 1:30 and ran to the bathroom to vomit. I hadn't/haven't felt nausea like what I've been experiencing since then since I was a boy with the flu. Just water coming out of both ends. Completely zapped of all energy. I felt like crying at points.
Could the food I ate last Sunday have been slowly attacking my system all week and finally gotten the best of me? And is the only way to really know what this is for sure to go get a stool sample or some kind of test done at the doctors? Thanks.
I also can't keep fluids down for the life of me. Is this perfectly normal when a bug first takes over?

Slurpee. It's the only cure. Gatorade also helps

Rice, slightly undercooked, and cooked in chicken broth.
A couple of bites of apple.
Gatorade
That is about all you will want to eat for a few days, and important you get it into you.

No need for doctor unless:
-dehydration is a concern
-bloody vomitus/stool
-longer than 3 days
-fever that gets worse with time
try and drink plenty of Gatorade and water (pedialyte is better as it has less sugar and therefore more hydrating, but tastes worse). Gravol by mouth if possible or suppository if needed may help.

Do you lick/suck your fingers when you eat wings? If so, it's a gross and disgusting habit, stop it!

not sure if it's the one they are referring to, but if you watch them cook it's pretty bad. they used to use the same utensils for raw beef and chicken to scoop out of their tubs and to cook in. also half the time i got chicken there it was half cooked. might've changed now tho

If you were a real man you would have a load of Mexican with hot sauce, then some wings ( with hot sauce), then some potato chips with a load of dip.

Drink lots of water! It will help flush out your system.

I really have to say I love this story! Made me chuckle.
About 10 years ago my wife was in Cancun and eating a burger and put mayonnaise on it. When we were walking back to our room I noticed a pallet of mayo out in the sun in like 38 celc weather. Sure enough she got food poisoned.

Unless you're seriously ill - you will probably never know for sure what you got hit with. Could be a virus. Could be food poisoning. Just like others have said, you want to keep hydrated. Water, gatorade - whatever floats your boat. Food if you feel like eating and it stays down. Rest, and take it easy.
This should go without saying, but wash your hands and wipe down surfaces in the bathroom. Whatever it is, you don't want to spread it to other folks in your house.
If you find you're shivering, running a fever, fainting, or not feeling better in 2 or 3 days, you should see a doctor. If an establishment is putting out contaminated food, there needs to be an investigation and "evidence" before any action can be taken.
...that "evidence" comes from you - in a little jar the doctor gives you.

I remember I got severe food poisoning to the point where anything that hit my stomach was already on the way out like a x-wing pilot making a run on the reactor of the second death star.
I couldn't even keep water down. The girl I was dating thought I was possessed by Satan with all of the projectile vomiting and the ancient demon language that I was speaking.
I couldn't keep hydrated and ended up going to the hospital to get a intravenous drip to keep my fluid levels up.
the worst part was after the stomach thing settled I had a crushing headache for a bunch of days afterwards.
completely my fault for not being careful when I made some chicken for a dinner.

Sickest I've ever been was during the last winter Olympics.. I was out with my 1.5 year old nephew at an IGA and he projectile vomited an ungodly amount of fluid at a distance I hadn't thought possible. I thought it was pretty funny at the time, but not even a day later I spent 24 hours straight on the bathroom floor. After I had puked everything I could give I just kept going through the motions again and again, dry heaving as well. I would literally get sick just from drinking a glass of water. It was all I could do to try and stay hydrated.
I have nothing else to add to this thread except I can still feel your pain. I barely remember the gold medal hockey game last time round as I was so out of it.

The last time I went to Tijuana, I got a massive case of food poisoning, then went to Vegas and ate at the Rio seafood buffet the next day. Highly recommended! The delicious crab legs, lobster and oysters wouldn't stay in me for more than about 10 minutes, so I never got full and was able to keep the eat/poop/eat/poop cycle going for several hours. I've never gotten so much food for the money. The next time I go out there, I might need to eat a bunch of raw chicken first to try to recreate my masterful seafood eating performance.
If you don't have any high quality seafood buffets near you, though, Gatorade is probably your best bet.
