Kind of a gross trick, but one that--let's just say "a friend" told me it works.

Moisten the end of a paper match and insert it about 2mm into the er... pooper. Your puppy will feel it in there and will "strain" to get it out. Puppy does potty, you offer a treat reward. Repeat about 100 times and you have a dog that poops on command.

if he ever goes pee when he's supposed to, make sure you reward him and make sure he knows he did something good. give him a treat or praise him. dogs are pack animals and they want to please their leaders/owners.

also always take him to the same spot. make one spot on the way be his designated pee spot and encourage him to go there by saying "go potty". and hang out in that area and if he pees, reward him. eventually he will associate that command with going and will do it because he will get rewarded.

lil puppies like to go REALLY often so you need to be around a lot and be persistent for him to learn.
