Don't think I've ever actually seen that beatport ad. Just the ones with the USB cable thingys.
On a somewhat related note, it makes me laugh how the "Congratulations! This is not a joke!" ads don't even try anymore. I'm the 6,835,409th visitor!

Awesome thread! I am always thinking the same thing... why put a viciously ugly girl to seel your product? Or maybe if you are on the right concoction of drugs she looks good... not sure

That may be true for most guys, but what if the target market of the ad is women? (If so poor placement on CP, but the banner might have been created generically). Not all women are hot, in fact a very small percentage of them are hot and the vast majority get sick and tired of hot chicks trying to sell them stuff. Hence the popularity of the "Dove" campaign. It's kinda like the 'everyman' principle exported to women. From a man's perspective I can understand how frustrating it can be watching ads with an absence of good old T n' A, however for raver women it might actually reach them better.
