Calgary has a very limited selection for late night eats. Restaurants have always shut down early in this city.
Pretty much the only city I can think of that doesnt even have one 24hr Mcdonalds is Calgary. Heck, Edm, Saskatoon, Regina, Wpg, T.O. Hamilton, Van, the list goes on, has them. Even smaller ones like Red Deer, Burlington, etc have them. They have had late night mcds for years.
I am a night owl alot of the times, so here is a parital list of what is open late.
Classic Jacks - menu till 2
1410 - late menu
Gerrys - 24hrs
Golden Inn - till 2am (sun - thurs) till 4am (Fri, Sat)
U and Me - till 4am
Harbour city - till 4am only on fri/sat
A&W - 24 hrs - 14th st SW., 36th st NE, 24hrs Macleod & 90th (Weekends)
BPs lounge - Menus open late till round 2
Dennys
Humptys
Perkins (NE)
Wendys - till 3am on weekends, most locations
Tubby Dog
Shwarma places in Kensington and also on 14th st - 3am on weekends
There you have it. Pretty much a weak roster to choose from for a city of this size.

Maybe, but with this labour shortage seeing that resturants can't get or keep staff at $14/hr during prime time daylight hours, even if places though it was a good idea to cater to the majority of drunkards rolling in post 12am 5-7days a week, its just not economically feasible.

Yes in general terms that is a valid answer to why we dont have late night eats now. But I highly doubt that if there was no labour shortage, things would be any different.
Calgary has always been like this, long before the current labour shortage. We have never had much in the way of late night options in this city. Our labour shortage has been like this only for the last couple of years. Calgary has been limited for late night eats even 10-15 years ago.

On bar nights, the Wicked Wedge is open until about 3:00. On 17th between 5th and 6th. Though I remember when that place was some seriously awesome pizza ... not so much anymore. Still good but not like it was.
Awesome Kitchen next to the Drum & Monkey on 11th has some pretty wicked hours. And rad tunes!

True, but it's always been this way in Calgary...when I moved here from Sask in the early 90's I was shocked how early McDonalds closed, and that there were few places open for a sitdown meal after midnight.

Oh man, we went to that place a couple of weeks ago at like midnight....It was pure, straight-up crap. Avoid that place at ALL costs. Terrible.
Instead, go to Bobby Chaos on center, just around the corner. MUCH better, and less questionable late night food.

When I was in Calgary, for greasy food and atmosphere? the Blackfoot Truck Stop is way better than the Husky. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned.

This is OT, but when I first saw this thread I thought it said "late night driving suggestions"

or, the Flying J across from the Deerfoot casino. On topic for casinos...the Elbow River Casino used to have a pretty nasty 3am buffet for the poker room patrons.
