True, but the party isn't at a bar. I guess it means we lose an hour of killing off the hangover in the morning rather than drinking time.

As tough as it'll be to get up on Monday morning, this is how I feel, too.
An extra hour of light at night sounds pretty good to me.

Haha ya. I doubt anyone will be in any shape to actually realize to set ahead their clocks at 2am, and if so, they're not drinking enough. Don't even worry about changing the time forward until the next day.

One of the things that I noticed when I moved from Calgary to Edson is how much longer its light out here.
It will easily stay light out until 10:30 - 11:00 in the summer months here and difference between the two areas is quite noticable.

I don't quite get the whole losing an hour of sleep deal they talk about. Time change be damned I'm going to get my 7-8 hours regardless of what the clock says.

We are basically following the USA on this. A year or two ago, they went to changing times later in the fall and earlier in the spring.
Canada pretty well has to do the same so that business can be in synch. Time difference between New York and Calgary is already 2 hours and time difference between New York and Vancouver is already 3 hours. To not go with the flow would make those time differences 3 hours and 4 hours, basically half a day - too far out of synch for business. And of course, Toronto would not like to be one hour behind New York either.

The issue I have with that is then how come Arizona doesn't observe daylight savings time?

yes it is, and Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver are in Canada.

Arizona is not really affected. When I think of Arizona, I think of snowbirds and retirees. They don't care if the sun is up an hour extra at night.

The worst part is setting my alarm for 2 A.M. to move my clocks ahead.
Then it takes me 2 hours to fall back to sleep so it's like losing 3 hours.

Just set your alarm clock to go off an hour early in the morning.

I've been advocating this for years with little or no success. But we should take an hour off Tuesdays and add it to the weekend.

I've been schooled.
I didn't know there wasn't business in Arizona.
What are the demographics of New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada...
All I was doing is making you accountable for making the claim that "in the states" they follow New York in their business. Disputing a point that has been missed on you.
Thanks for the info tips.
