The same as your tax return only needs to be in the mail on Apr 30th, companies needed the T4s in the mail last night, not necessarily in your hands.

locke - what does cra do with a complaint?

It depends. 7 times out of 10 they ignore it completely. If its serious enough they'll look into it and if they've looked into it before then the fines start rolling in.
Like I said, most of the time if you complain the CRA will do sweet nothing, sometimes they'll send your employer a letter notifying them of the complaint and that its been filed with the CRA.
Essentially, they put your employer on notice.
After that, if the complaint is serious enough, or the same complaint has been registered before they go to town on your employer's ass in the fine department.
Like I said, they're fairly heavy-handed, its either nothing at all or everything possible.

Technically, it is supposed to be in your hands, but the CRA couldnt care less if you dont have your T4 in your hands on Feb 28/29 so long as they've been filed on time.

That is all changing now with the new policies put in place. I work for them and yes it used to be that way with complaints. It has completely changed in the last few months of because we have a new minister and new persn in charge of policy now.

No, it's one of those things where let's say I'm due to get $500 back. After enterring all my info the tax software will tell me that is I get an RRSP loan for $670 then my return will cover it.
I'm really bad about saving money, so I figure if I at least do this with what is essentially "found money" then I'm better off than if I spent my refund on hookers & blow.

Thats good to know, like I said, I was just speaking from past experience.

The CRA knocked on my door offering a job once, but I am strong with the accounting force and resisted the evil power of the financial dark side.

With all the good advice going back and forth concerning T4s how about some for this one?
What should I do if they screwed up my T4 and said I made a bunch less money then I really did?

I'd guess that if it was a small error that could easily be missed, then there would be no serious consequences. They'd still come after you for the taxes owed once the error is found. If it was a large error that you should have noticed, then you'd be more at fault for not contacting the employer and telling them of their error. Either way, you're not off the hook for the taxes. I have a cousin who is a CRA auditor and I could find out but I think this is how it would work.

first talk to the employer and see if they will fix it themselves, if not file a complaint with CRA, just make sure that you are complaining about what the T4 says, not that you have not gotten a T4.

This is mostly true. You still owe taxes on the additional income, but you have to contact your employer and have them correct it.
As for filing the taxes, you have to file the T4 as you have it, errors and all. It'll have to be corrected later, or you can wait until you're issued an ammended T4.
This is because the CRA has that T4 on file and they expect what you submit to match their records or they will adjust it themselves.

Does anyone here prefer to use an accountant instead of going to H&R Block?

DO NOT GO THERE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!! I deal with them all day and all they know how to do is punch the numbers in to the computer. They only get 7-10 days training for tax information which is no where near enough (I had 6 weeks of training when I started and that was just basic stuff).

I also wouldn't use H&R Block. Even if you need cash back; some accountants offer the same thing. Last time I used it (circa 1996) I used an accountant who charged me less than what H&R wanted, and I felt like he was trying to groom a future client as opposed to being the fast food of taxes.

Could you recommend one to me? I appreciate the feedback, could you perhaps be just a little more specific as towards how it was a better experience? Was it stuff like advice, or did they actually try to get you a bigger tax refund somehow? Thanks.
