not too much change on the horizon in alberta
Looks like ricoFlame gets closest, and it probably even he will underestimate the PCs.

took first and second place was so far back they didn't even show up in the finish line photo. I was expecting the PC to win but at this level I sure wasn't. I think it's safe to say no one is.

What does this say about the leadership of the oppposition partys in alberta though? Ed is a horrid premier despised by many yet he managed to makeup ground on the other partys.

Well a little shocked to see the Pc's win 73 seats. But all in all, nothing too surprising. Ultimately, watching the NDP lose half their seats was the highlight of my night. Two things do need to change for the next election.

A) More representation for cities of Calgary and Edmonton. We are getting ripped off by the rural rididngs. It is currently about a 50-50 split when it should really be a 70-30 split. The Conservatives have been told by the supreme court to make it more respresntative. About time.

B) Proportional representation may or may not be implemented. Tories garnering 52% of the popular vote and getting 87% of the seats is something all other parties will make an issue of.

A little surprising too see the Greens do much better in Calgary and Central Alberta than Edmonton. Of course, now that the leader is from around Edmonton they vote PC, If the leader is from Calgary they whine and vote opposition. Edmonton, all class, all the time.

Congrats Rico, easily the winner. I was a distant 2nd-4th.

I dont think that is entirely true. Calgary was ticked off and had their feelings hurt when they had such little representation in Stelmach's cabinet. Hate? Nah, too much oil money in Calgary not to give Ed another chance. I think Calgary was miffed but in the end, they trust him. Can they say they trust the alternatives out there? I think the results say no.

I don't see this province ever supporting NDP. While some think Taft ran a good campaign and did well in the debate, Liberal still sounds like Trudeau in the province of Alberta.

And the Alliance? They were infighting about their name a week before the election was called. And I think voters thought to themselves that if they could not decide on a name, they certainly would not be able to govern.
