If I had to chose a side I would pick DC, but I read Marvel as well and the whole Civil War story was very well done. I enjoyed it more than DC's Infinite Crisis.
As for Green Lantern, well obviously it is my favourite comic line, always has been and it is the main reason I am a DC fan. If you read comics and didn't read the Sinestro Corps War you should really pick up a hard copy, will cost you like 18 bucks and it is one of the greatest comic reads of the decade.
Basically Sinestro, Hal Jordans former mentor, went rogue years ago creating his own power ring based on Fear. He recruited the baddest of the bad, including Cyborg-Superman, Superboy-Prime and the Anti Monitor, to wage war against the GL corps. The story centers on the GL Corps but also involves lots of other big characters like the JSA, JLA and Teen Titans.
