I'd be in for a CP team but already organize a team in the Alberta Summer Hockey League - The Ravens division 3. The league is great and actually the best one I've ever played in summer or winter, great time slots, and the reffing is not that bad. I'd be the enemy on here if someone started a team in div 3 .

Any of you guys want to PM me about playing with us feel free, there may be a couple spots still open, except for troutman of course ha ha (just joking Trout).

Yeah and you're right about the fees $7200 per team, works out to about $500 per player for 30 games. Two years ago it was $400 per player for the same amount of games. Most games are at Centennial (South), and a few at Murray Copot (North). There's another arena down south but I can't remember the name.

I don't know why the WRAHL is getting all the hate in this thread. I manage and play on a team in that league. We've been there for 2 years and have had no problems with it. The reffing can be bad sometimes, but that is the same in any league. It's tough to get high quality refs for rec league hockey. The prices are good compared to a lot of other leagues as well. The guy who runs the league is solid as well. I've never had any problems.

Depending on where I get my practicum, I could very well be in on this. Problem is, there's a good chance I won't be in Calgary over the summer

Either way... we'll see.

flameswin: Back on Monday, and ready to go for the next games. I see we've had some wins up in B div!

I just started a new team in HNA. $3300 for summer 15 games, plus playoffs. I think they are accepting new teams if anyone wants to put down $500 deposit.

Yeah, it looks like all Paul's trash talking of the weaker teams on the messege board got us moved up to div B with only 7 or 8 games remaning before playoffs.

Oh wll, I rather have closer games, than win every game 15-0. Having said that though, we won our first game in div B 12-4.

Ice on Monday's at Father David Bauer and Friday's at Centennial. The earliest start time is 6:30 and the latest start time is 9:30. There will be no games on long weekends, and during Stampede week the Friday games have been moved to Wednesday's. It is a 23 game regular season, which is an additional game from last season.

• All Star Game is set for July 18th followed by league social at Bass Brothers providing the entertainment will be the one and only A-team.

• I have found some new quality referee's from coaching midget AA this season, as well many of the quality referees from last season will be returning.

• We remain the only league in town to offer a semi-final and final best of three play-off series.
featuring the famous Norrie brothers..

Some good leagues out there. Ive played in the Alberta summer hockey league. I think its one of the best one's out there.
http://www.sportzone.ca/sites/9100/p...&LeagueID=9100

Hockey North America is OK as well. But you get a ton of late weekday games. I'm talking 10:45, 11:00, and 11:15pm on weekdays. The other thing with this league is everyone must match. Everyone has to have the same jersey, same color socks, wear a visor and you have to have your name on the back of your jersey. $$$ adds up if your just starting out in the league.

I also play in a 4 on 4 league. Real clean hockey thats not all that competitive and has all types of skill level playing for every team. Not many whistles because after goals etc the teams give you center ice and you continue playing. Its more of a league for guys that just want to get out and play some fun hockey. Most games are at crowchild and Cardel though. Only like 6 games plus playoffs if you make it for $99 bucks and then when thats over he starts it all over again. You can sign up as a individual and the guy will place you on a team.

Easy now, I am way too out of shape for hockey...just ask Kryszky!
I like slo-pitch, the fastest I have to move is my home run trot.

However if there were a team, and it was rec; sign me up.

#29, c/LO (left out)

Will play D if you don't mind losing.

I've actually heard that there's more than a few teams in C div of the NCHL that go in intentionally sandbagging to "clean up". You guys can probably form an opinion on it, but I've also been told in some cases C div is actually more competitive than B.

Sorta strange you guys got moved up though....if anything I was thinking that X team would go up, but I guess moving them up from D would have been bad press or something.

yeah, not even close, B is WAY better then C. I play on a team that also started the year in C before i joined up. Then was moved to B the game before i joined. They were pretty dominant in C and now we take the beatings alot more then we give

The thing with rec hockey is that alot of time the teams are composed of varying skill levels. Our team for example has 2 maybe 3 A level players, a couple B level players, a bunch of C level players and a couple D level players. At the C level the A/B players were dominant enough that the team won all the time and by large marings. At the B level the strong players still stand out but the lower tier players have a hard time competing.

So most of the games you can tell how succesful you're gonna be before the game even starts based on who shows up. We played one of the lower placed teams in the league when a bunch of the weaker players were all out and got pounded, sandwiched between 2 wins playing teams ranked alot higher where the stonger players showed up.
