I’m looking for an update on suggested activities in Canmore in early August for adults and a six-year-old?

Anyone done the cave tours, the cowboys and coal mines historical walk, and Mystery Towns clue-solving adventure?

I've never done it, but have heard lots of good things about the cave tours.

My wife and I did a Canmore Caves tour, with the Adventure package, for an anniversary a handful of years back.

It was fantastic, and we loved it...but if you have any squick at all about small/dark places, it's not for you. The smallest hole you have to be able to fit through is manhole sized, as a heads up. Our tour guide was awesome, and there are a lot of options in the cave if an area is 'doable' by you or a member of the group. The rappel part of the tour was a lot of fun, too.

We learned that cameras in there are not worth it. There's a lot of dust/particulate in the air, and unless you know what you are doing, you'll just be taking pictures of dust. Our guide took a couple shots of us after we asked her, and she didn't mind. Just leave the camera/phone at home/basecamp.

It was a blast, and if it seems like it might be interesting to you/your party, I'd recommend it.
