With the dollar pretty much even with the Green back, I'd have to think used vehichle values in Canada would take a beating. I have 2 and a half years left on the lease for a vehichle from 2006. I was thinking I would buy out the lease (had planned to do so), but now I'm thinking I'll happily turn the vehichle back if the currencies don't return to historical valuations because I'll be able to buy a similar used vehichle for much less than the lease buyout will be.

So no, I'm not giving it to MQS to buy a 2004 Pontiac!

Do you mind me asking how you got your return so high? Maxed out your RRSP's?

And on topic, I would pay down existing consumer debt...not exciting but a pretty good investment in itself.

Being the banker I am, I'd say get rid of the debt first. Use anything left towards RRSPs, specifically Mutuals.

But if I know you as well as I think I might... a toy is in your future. Are you in the Loops yet, or still in St. Albert. What about WHL season's tickets?

I personally am trying to get more into the whole sacrifice now to pay myself later, so the re-investing would be a better idea IMO, but getting out of debt is always nice.

Yeah, I made a decent RRSP contribution. I have an okay setup where the company does 5% gross salary RRSP matching so that helps me get my RRSP contribution up quite easily. More or less I'm getting about $300 back for every 1000 of contribution + some stuff like CPP overpayment and a couple pay periods where I had some extra time worked and paid a higher rate than normal. Apparently many other people don't take advantage of it...Baffles me for about $300 a month they could get the company to match 1 for 1. I could fill out the forum to give to the government and just not have them deduct the money in the first place....but than my wife would spend it on more trinkets.

And Protto...still in St.Albert, house is for sale though....good deal, listed for about 30k less than it was last summer when it was one of the better priced places around. Unfortunatly not many buyers, and lots of other places for sale too these days. Kamloops likely won't happen for me....I'll have to go into the Okanagan (Penticton/Summerland/Ok Falls, Kaleden) which will be like economic suicide because you can't buy a dump of a shack there for under 600k. So I'll be paying more taxes, living in a crappy dump of a house and probably taking home less money. But hey, they don't get -40 there!

I wonder that too.. my company will match 1.5 up to 10% (so I put in 10% they put in 15%)

I am completly in shock when people say they dont do it....

I'm currently not doing it because I'm not sure how long I'm going to stay with my current employer, but I guess I should do it anyway, right?

Mine will be used for a trip to Calgary during the playoffs.

I can think of no better investment! The beer may cost 7 bucks per, but one heroin beer is equal to 5 Ricards Red!

I had my refund directly deposited to my savings account. Its not that exciting, but maybe it will turn into something more fun later. Right now its just earning interest.

If you go to the fancy food stands they have Heroin Rickards Red for 7.25. Its the ones that have the roast beef sandwiches etc.

More on topic I usually just put my income tax return right in the bank account then put it in 18 month redeemables so it earns interest but i can take it back out to pay for school.

1) property taxes.

2) mortgage.

3) yard development.

let's face it. its not likely to be more than enough to cover #1.

Now thats a cool idea...of course I'd have to watch the Chiefs get killed since they look to suck pretty badly again. But...on the bright side tickets at Arrowhead will be easy to come by.
