Rumour has it that they took out more of an insurance policy on the fence, cause it would no doubt be destroyed every winter.
There is a place like that near where I grew up too (right beside Central Memorial). Cept they only fixed the fence once and put a big stinking boulder in-front of it. Once a month there would be a car with it's front end smashed in sitting in-front of that boulder. Made me laugh every time.

Call everybody. Police, your alderman, the media. Create a fuss. That's what I would do, in fact I have done in the past. I had a somewhat similar problem, in Red Deer, with (mainly) high school students treating the wide road by my house as a speedway. They raced each other side by side on the street quite often. I reported it a few times, got photos etc. and the police now patrol the area fairly frequently. It's nowhere near the problem it was.

Failing all that I like Resolute's idea. Park a sturdy old beater for the idiots to crash into. In the meantime I would park your vehicles further away though. Sure, it may seen that you are 'giving in' but you're not. You're protecting yourself. The only one suffering right now is you. Make your calls, buy your old tank, get your video out but, above all, move your vehicles for now....

Video surveillence only works if the j/o that hits your car wiped the snow and mud off his plate before leaving his house to drive like an idiot.

There are a couple places in the city that I've noticed concrete barriers put up. Those traffic dividing blocks put perpendicular along the streets. They're good because they offer a bit of protection for some cars (the ones parked right behind them) but bad because you have to parallel park them and they're ugly.

Sell the house. Otherwise this'll piss you off forever. People in this city are terrible drivers and that wont change anytime soon.

No kidding, this worked for the kid in Edmonton who racked up a $80,000.00 cell phone bill and he managed to get it reduced to $3,000.00. Go to the paper, at least.

I like the old land barge idea too. Park it kinda stupid so that people have to weave around it and if they hit it, it's their fault. That should work until the city institutes the "old beater" law which will prohibit you from having derelict vehicles on your property and this could net you a nasty fine.

I feel bad for you Nehkara.

My suggestion is keep a few buckets of gravel around your house and spread it on the road when it gets icy. Maybe explain your situation to the city and see if the will give you some. It might help to keep drivers from spinning out.
