That makes sense, I thought there may have been a miscommunication there, I wasn't quite understanding your point

Well, anyone who is afraid of Putin or Chavez wouldn't know the difference anyway....which eliminates fear mongering IMO.

I'm not sure how you can fear monger unless there is a legitimate threat.

Still, Chavez and Putin present unique problems for the US and the next President will undoubtedly have to deal with those.

Fair enough. I have a fairly moderate hold of U.S. politics but am in no way an expert, I'm sure you've got a much stronger grasp of it than I do, so I digress. All I know is after watching that Romney speech I came away quite unimpressed(and I consider myself a moderate Conservative, so I was surprised this was the case)

He/she could certainly take lessons on fearmongering out of thin air from Chavez and Putin . . . . ironically.

For one, he said he doesnt want to see the U.S. turn into France(to which the crowd started booing at the mere mention of the word "France". I thought we were past this), in terms of being a once great world power to become only a moderate power now.

He also mentioned he doesnt want to see the U.S. get pushed around by Putin and Charez, and it is important for America to remain as the most powerful country on earth, to which the crowd started wildly cheering. It sounded like the place was packed with a bunch of hicks, it actually scared me that someone who actually had a legit shot at the Presidency could think this way.
First of all, this is CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference), and its attended by the most extreme of the young Republicans, AKA the "Hitler Youth". The views are extreme and the responses are extreme. You have to remember that the majority of the people there strongly believe everything they hear and see on FoxNews and Clear Channel's Hate Radio circuit. The likes of Limbaugh, Hannity and O'Reilly speak the gospel, and this dittoheads lap it up like its mothers milk. Many of these people are not really educated, but instead indoctrinated at swell institutions like Liberty University, Oral Roberts University and Regent University. There is a reason why none of these schools are accreditted, and never will be.

The whole France thing is a bit embrassing. The United States could learn a lot from France, if it could get over its xenophobia for five minutes. Their healthcare and general educational systems blow their American counterparts. The working class is certainly much better off. France isn't perfect (they speak French and like Jerry Lewis) but we could learn something from them and could improve our country by taking away what they do best.

The same things goes with the sabre rattling about other leaders. The vast majority of the world sees the United States as the greatest threat to world peace, so maybe old Mitt should consider that before opening his pie hole. Yeah, there are ther leaders that are dufi, but when your country is run by the Grand Poohbah of dufi, you should be guarded in your comments.

Frankly, I'm glad Romney is out of the race. One of two extremists that do not represent the view of the average American is out of the race. All we need is to have Huckabee drop out and we're set. What is ironic is that the most conservative of the three candidates left after that is likely Clinton, and no Republican will vote for her.

You noticed that too huh.

Obama is the only democrat who can win, and I said that 3 months ago.

At this point, I might be inclined to vote for him. As I mentioned last week though, if McCain chooses someone like Joe Lieberman (which would be compltely in line with his entire campaign to date) I could get on board.
