"When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap."
- Cynthia Heimel
Never take life too seriously...no one ever gets out alive anyway.
"Life is all about ass ... either you are covering it, kicking it, kissing it, trying to get it, or acting like one."
We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names and all are different colours . . . but they all exist very nicely in the same box.

Here's a couple oldies that were among my dad's favourites. They're not exactly on par with Churchill's or Thoreau's nuggets, but they have a certain folksy charm.
1. She's a tough cow to breed, but we need the calf.
2. If you're looking for sympathy, it's in the dictionary between sit and syphilis.

So we keep asking, over and over,
Until a handful of earth
Stops our mouths-
But is that an answer?

Oh, and possibly my favourite quote of all time, although there are some great Sagan ones out there:
Δεν ελπίζω τίποτε. Δεν φοβoμαι τίποτε. Είμαι λεύτερος.
I expect nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.
-Nikos Kazantzakis

"I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking. The world is so exquisite with so much love and moral depth, that there is no reason to deceive ourselves with pretty stories for which there's little good evidence. Far better it seems to me, in our vulnerability, is to look death in the eye and to be grateful every day for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides."
-Carl Sagan
