well ive had fun a couple times on first dates at the game this year.
The thing to do, if you are on the sides of the rink, is stick her on your side that the majority of the ice is. so say if you are in a zone, stick her closer to the blue line. That way you don't feel like you have her back to you, and you can talk to her without really having to look away from the game much.

From the guy who has had several first dates? Seems to indicate a lack of second dates methinks?

Watch the movie "Fever Pitch," if you're as passionate about the Flames as that guy is for the Red Sox then think of something else for the first date.

Flames games are great for first dates, I find it better to have a mutual activity to break up the conversation a bit.. I hate hearing their entire life story the in first 3 hours of being with someone.. One word of advice, don't park on scottsman hill to save $10 if the girl complains about having a bad knee.. It amazes me I even got a second date after I put my gf into 4 weeks of physio..

Cotton candy has this power? I did not realize that. Maybe I just have an iron stomach.

On the flipside, you can also buy her a pocket dog and tell her that later you can show her your impression of "how the dog goes in the pocket".

Be careful going on first dates to sporting events. You never know what will happen:
I took a Canadian girl, who was visiting England on vacation, on a first date to a Liverpool football match. It went well. She watched attentively and asked lot's of questions about soccer and what she was watching, but not so much that I couldn't watch the game. We've been married almost 18 years now, moved back to Canada in 1990, and have our 4th child due any minute!
Yep, make this decision to take a girl on a first date to a sporting event with care!!!

Okay. I dont go to many Flames games, but as circumstances have it this has happened to me before.
Events such as hockey games are just fun to attend, the atmosphere is great and it worked out well. I have just 1 piece of advice for you.
1. Do not dump a beer on her head when the Flames score.
This is an important rule. Dont forget it or there will be no more scoring. Guaranteed.

Simple Solutions:
1. Drink VERY quickly before the Flames CAN score
2. Don't drink at all

Then where on her should I dump it?
My biggest issue with going to games on a date (first one) is that she doesn't know me that well yet, and I tend to get rowdy at Flames games, so I feel like less of a fan when I hold back as to not make a jackass of myself

I LOVE going to games with girls. More than going with a fellow guy.
Having season tickets for many years now, i always went with my girlfriend and had a good time, but this year i am single for the first time in many many years and have enjoyed going on date after date! Girls in Calgary LOVE being asked to the game, and no one has ever said no to going - even super hot girls who barely know me!!
I have been with 16 different girls already this season (gehehehe - i am like a giddy school girl!), and had a great time each and every time!! (Lots of non-hockey second dates, but i am enjoying a lot of first dates these days - variety after that many years of monotony!)
I always tell them as the game starts that i have one big rule: I tell them it is the 'guys rule of sports' (or some bull like that) and say they can talk all they want but i don't have to listen, they can't take it personally if i don't hear something and they have to repeat themselves if i ask without taking it personally. I tell them that half-jokingly (yet serious) and then make it kind of seem like i should be at the game with a guy, which has the double effect of making them even happier to be there and that i am not overly interested - which pulls them in even more.
That is how i roll anyways! lol....

Well that certainly didn't hurt!
She was blown away by the Kop actually, especially when they sang YNWA before the start of the match.

I really dont see the prob with it. Of course dont be an ass and just sit there watching the game, completely ignoring her. That should be common sense. I'm sure she'll want to watch too, shell probably just have a bunch of Q's for you about the game to answer, which keeps the convo flowing good enough.
You dont have to be one of those guys who talks throughout the game, and I'm sure she's not expecting you to either. Just help her understand it when she asks, crack a few jokes to keep it light and enjoyable, and chat her up during the intermissions. Then when the game's done at 9:30, take her out for a drink or somethin, the night is still young. Plus, the game will give you something to chat about afterwards. I really don't see why this would be a bad move talking her to the game, I'd totally do it.

Yeah, my whole family are a bunch of scousers (Norris Green). I got to see Anfield for the first time in March, but only in passing. Unfortunately, they were playing an away match when I was back there, so I did not get to see my first premiership game (Moved to canada when I was 6) Every other time I've been back, its been during the offseason.

Forget her... take me. Sure, it's our first date... but if you have lower bowl tickets, I may put out.
