To answer your question in regards to concerns on the motor and such that are involved. Side view power mirrors have the motor and defroster grid built into them. The wire that you see is the supply/control power wires. Take the door panel off, unbolt the broken mirror, unplug the wire harness and you should have no problems put the new one in. As for a used mirror, check out the various auto wreckers...if your lucky, pick n pull might have it.

I am not familiar with Honda, but those kinds of parts are usually pretty standard in construction-foreign or domestic. Good luck and cheers.

ps, a standard, nonpower mirror may bolt up as well if your cost concious and not overly concerned if it isn't powered. Take your broken piece to compare so you can make sure.

www.car-parts.com

access to the used car parts database.

You might get lucky and find something local.

I now need a white left-hand side view mirror that has the motor and defroster for a 98 4-door Accord. Does anybody know if these are easy to repair? I think the motor, housing, and mirror are actually fine, it's the casing that is broken right open and right off the car. Does anybody know a good Canadian autoparts dealer I can get a replacement from for cheap? I'm not about to goto Honda because they have overcharged me to varying extremes on parts (especially older ones) before.

I'm currently unemployed and this is my only car so I need to have this fixed as cheaply as possible, I'm torrenting the service manual for my car (if not, I'll find a Haynes Manual at the library). Is it a simple fix?, I'm more worried about motor misalignment (it's motorized) and the electric mirror defroster. But I suppose the biggest issue is getting a replacement. Short of scouting the junk-yards, does anybody have a good source or autoparts depot that's in Canada or even better Calgary that I could get a replacement unit from for as cheaply as possible.

MacGyver I'm not.
Happened to my wife no more than a month after we bought the brand new fusion. A-holes
