Nonsense. Having a chai latte everyday isn't bad for you. Some studies have shown that drinking milk can promote weight loss. Tea is very healthy.
Just because something has calories in it, doesn't mean it is bad for you. Starbucks is selling milk and coffee - real foods that comes from fields. McDonalds is selling products loaded with ingredients that you can't pronounce.
I know I have a latte most days (not from *$'s though!). It keeps me full between breakfast and lunch. I don't eat as much at lunch because of that.

To me, I just don't like StarBucks coffee, it always tastes like its either burnt, or they don't clean out the urn.

I did too (at least at first when they would make the pizza from scratch and bring it to your table, until they cheapened it and basically reheated frozen pizza). I don't know if it was really a failure though since it was only sold in Canada.
I guess you could call the McRib a failure though they bring it back from time to time.

I'm not a huge fan of the regular Starbucks drip coffee. Having said that, our office brews it almost exclusively and I have a bag of Starbucks beans at home that I'm using for my at home coffee kicks.
Starbucks recently rolled out their skinny latte. Now you can get a flavored tall latte for only 90 calories. Haven't tried that yet.
I actually really enjoy the coffee from McDonald's since they brought in their fancy stuff a couple years ago.

The only real marketing failure that they've ever had was the Pizza, and that wasn't much of a failure.
|
The Arch Deluxe was a pretty high-profile failure for McDonald's. It failed so badly, in fact, that nobody else in this thread even remembered it to comment that it was a failed McDonald's product!

The Arch Deluxe was a hamburger created and marketed by McDonald's with the intent of capturing the adult fast food consumer market, presented as a more sophisticated burger for an adult palate. It failed to catch on and is seen as one of the most expensive flops of all time.

So in researching this I have read that home brewers do not brew hot enough, so I am diving in and buying my wife a fancy dutch coffee maker (she drinks coffee way more than I). Its called Technivorm and apparently the only one on the market that brew at the optimal 200F temperature. I will make a thread after it arrives to report my findings.
anyone here have one of these?

No experience with those but I do know a thing or two about dutch ovens.

You are giving too much credit to brand loyalty. People will change if its better or more convenient. The people who believe having a Starbucks in their hand is cool are the easiest to convert.

Yes, and it's surprisingly good. Well, it's about as good as you can imagine a lobster roll from McDonald's could possibly be at least.

With the sushi craze that has grasped today's society I'm surprised that I can't order McSushi when I'm at old Rotton Ronnie's...

I don't know how it works in the rest of world. But I could cook and eat my breakfast as well as do the dishes, Faster than it takes to wait in line 20 minutes in the morning for Tim Hortons or McDonalds.
